Job Description:
Develop bioinformatics algorithms for clinical and forensic genetic analysis software. Develop or maintain applications that process biologically based data into searchable databases for purposes of analysis, calculation, or presentation. Analyze or manipulate bioinformatics data using software packages, statistical applications, or data mining techniques. Implement alignment analysis for forensic genetics data to get variants and Short Tandem Repeat detection to get genotype of DNA data. Enter or retrieve information from structural databases, protein sequence motif databases, mutation databases, genomic databases or gene expression databases. Develop new methods to improve accuracy and sensitivity for variant detection and to expand the compatibility with more data types from different sequencing instruments Improve the structural variants detection and haplotype calculation for the newest data type to be used for clinical genetics data. Conduct quality analyses of data inputs and resulting analyses or predictions. Telecommuting permitted.
Minimum Requirements:
Education: Master’s degree or foreign degree equivalent in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, or related field
Experience: Two (2) years of experience in job offered, Data Analyst, Software Engineer, or in a related occupation
