Data Scientist - Marketing Technology

Location: Berlin, in-office

The cross-functional MarTech team is collaboratively responsible for improving our customer acquisition. This includes optimizing our worldwide online marketing spendings, attributing new customers to marketing campaigns, automating content creation through AI, calculating the customer lifetime value of our merchants, and using data from various sources for analysis and decision making. Based on that data, we develop machine-learning models that help us achieve the above mentioned goals. 

For that, we are looking for a passionate Data Scientist to complement our team. We will innovate, drive impact for our customers and SumUp, and have fun together. 

What you’ll do:

• Work closely with stakeholders to build valuable solutions and enable them to use these efficiently
• Analyse data to build and operate machine-learning models that predict user behaviour, optimise marketing spendings, or create marketing content using generative AI
• Work on predictions and insights that contribute to shaping the direction of the company. 
• Be part of  an international team spanning two continents and consisting of a Product Manager, Data Scientists, Software Engineers, and Data Engineers

You’ll be great for this role if:

• You have a degree in statistics, mathematics, economy, computer science or  comparable 
• You have 2+ years of experience in data science
• You bring experience in building, delivering, and continuously iterating machine learning models and algorithms end-to-end at scale
• You possess experience in experimenting and measuring experiments (setting up a/b tests, lift tests or geo tests) and evaluating them
• You have experience using Python with its scientific stack (e.g. pandas, sklearn, numpy, statsmodels, xgboost, matplotlib, seaborn) and knowledge of SQL 
• You bring great communication and data visualization skills and the ability to effectively convey complex insights to non-technical stakeholders, enhancing collaboration and informed decision-making 
• You embrace best practices for clean, maintainable and testable code
