As an Associate Data Scientist within the RBS Decision Science Consumer Finance team, you will support the management of models for the Consumer Finance business and help improve outcomes for our customers. This includes areas such as credit risk decisioning where our models help assess thousands of customer credit applications a day, customer contact strategy where models are used to help identify customer needs - and more generally any area where modelling and AI can add value to customer outcomes. You’ll work closely with key stakeholders, such as the Portfolio teams, Finance and Group to ensure modelling outcomes are accurate and are aligned to the strategic direction of the business.

The Decision Science team within Retail Banking Services is responsible for management and creation of AI and modelling solutions to improve the financial well-being of our customers and communities.

The Decision Science Consumer Finance team within Retail Banking Services supports the Consumer Finance business through the development, maintenance and management of predictive models, creating insights to enable business decision making at a strategic and tactical level. These models help support end-to-end product performance of all the retail Consumer Finance products (e.g. Credit Cards, Personal Loans, StepPay, AdvancePay) across all key applications, including marketing, credit risk, operations and portfolio management.

Role and Responsibilities:

You will be responsible for the management of key modelling assets within the team, with an objective to utilise state of the art data science and statistical techniques to improve business and customer outcomes.

More specifically this will include:

• Driving value through monitoring and management of industry leading machine learning and statistical models that solve defined business issues and are fully compliant with all required policies and governance.

• Identifying and driving the delivery and embedment of continuous improvement initiatives.

• Proactively contributing to and encouraging the sharing of knowledge with team members and stakeholders.

• Demonstrating the group values.

• Be proactive in own career planning and personal development.

We want to hear from you if you have:

• Demonstrated knowledge of predictive machine learning models and statistical models, and other advanced analytical techniques.

• High attention to detail and concern for accuracy, completeness and appropriateness of solutions.

• Advanced technical skills - ability to generate actionable value-add insights by understanding complex data and using tools such as Python, Spark and SQL.

• A relevant tertiary qualification e.g. Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, Biostatistics, Econometrics, Engineering or similar.
