As the Lead Data Scientist, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the direction of our data science efforts, overseeing project execution, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver impactful solutions. Your expertise in advanced analytics, machine learning, and leadership will be instrumental in advancing our organization's data and AI capabilities.


Responsibilities & Essential Functions:

  • Strategic Collaboration: Collaborate with executives and stakeholders to align data science initiatives with business goals ensuring the right work is done at the right time.
  • Project Execution and Oversight: Lead the development and execution of the overall data science strategy. Ensure the delivery of high-quality, scalable, and robust data science solutions.
  • Modeling: Oversee and execute the design and implementation of complex machine learning models.
  • Effective Communication: Ensure proper communication of results to business stakeholders and executive sponsors.
  • Solution Deployment & Maintenance: Lead collaboration with different functional teams to deploy algorithms and develop processes and tools for monitoring model performance and data accuracy.
  • Team Leadership: Provide technical leadership and mentorship to the data science team.
  • Team Evolvement: Drive innovation by staying abreast of emerging technologies and methodologies, data sources and tools, and industry trends.

Job Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in relevant field (applied mathematics, statistics, computer science, etc.) Highly Preferred.
  • Experience: A minimum of 6 years of relevant work experience. Advanced degrees may be used as a substitute for some experience. Proven track record of successfully delivering complex data science projects.
  • Technical Proficiency: Expertise in advanced analytics, statistical modeling, machine learning
  • Strong programming skills in languages such as Python or R.
  • Domain Knowledge: Strong understanding of life insurance industry or similar business domain
  • Communication & Collaboration Skills: Excellent communication and stakeholder relationship management skills. Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions and vice versa.
  • Innovation: Proven ability to stay up to date on the evolving Data Science field and drive the adoption of innovative solutions

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced Degree: Master’s or PhD in a relevant field (Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, etc.).
  • Industry Experience: Previous work in a similar role within the industry or related field.
  • Publication Record: Contributions to research, publications, or patents related to data science or machine learning.
  • Software Development: Strong understanding of software engineering practices, version control, and deployment pipelines.
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Machine Learning Specialty, Google Professional Data Engineer).
  • Management experience
  • Experience leveraging pre-existing models to solve new challenges/problems (transfer learning)
  • Experience with building and implementing deep learning solutions
