C. H Robinson is seeking a Database Platform Administrator who will oversee the daily execution of processes, operations, and support activities within the wide realm of distributed data services, NoSql technologies, data science tooling, and data streaming platforms. This team is responsible for deploying and managing platforms and tools to support our distributed data, data science, and data streaming strategies. They currently manage platforms including Kafka, Elastic Search, MongoDB , and Redis. The team takes an infrastructure-as-code approach to these technologies, and strives to automate wherever, and whenever possible.
This role can be based in Minnesota, Chicago, Kansas City.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The duties and responsibilities of this position consists of, but are not limited to, the following:
- Facilitate the continuous re-engineering of fluid data platforms and pipelines
- Participate in global on-call rotation to ensure 24x7 availability of distributed data platforms
- Custom development and automation around the provisioning and operations of platforms
- Creating and maintaining monitors and alerts for the team’s systems
- Promote proper and efficient use of platforms
- Partner with software engineering, data science, and infrastructure teams on evaluation and feasibility assessment of new platforms and technologies
- Oversee and ensure production readiness of new technologies/platforms
- Maintain documentation on processes and procedures
- Other duties or responsibilities as assigned according to the team and/or country specific requirements
Required Qualifications:
- 2+ years of Enterprise experience building and maintaining highly available production systems
- 2+ years of working with Linux in a production environment
- 2+years of experience with Kafka
- Professional experience supporting at least one of the following: Elasticsearch, MongoDB
- Experience with CI/CD (continuous integration/continuous deployment) practices
- Associate of Applied Science degree in Computer Science related field or equivalent work experience and high school diploma/GED
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science or related field
- Experience/familiarity with container orchestration platforms a plus (Kubernetes)
- Experience working in an Agile environment
- Experience with Redis or other caching technologies
- Operational knowledge of working in a cloud environment
- Familiarity with microservice architecture and Restful API’s
- Excellent facilitation and communication skills
- Positive, collaborative attitude
- Proactive, accountable, autonomous, and solutions oriented
- Ability to motivate and encourage change, able to get positive results in a very large, dispersed organization

Compensation Range
$71,800.00 - $149,200.00

Your individual base pay within this range is determined by work location, which takes into account geographic cost of labor, and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
