JOB DESCRIPTION
The Atlanta office of Alston & Bird is searching for a Data Management Analyst to join the Legal Technology & Consulting Services team. Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, perform a variety of duties to assist Alston Discovery’s Legal Technology & Consulting Services (“LTCS”) department in the management and tracking of incoming and outgoing client and third party data, the archival and data disposition process, and ensuring the security of all data by tracking the custody and control of data in accordance with firm policies, department procedures, and applicable laws and regulations. Maintain positive contact with team members, other firm personnel, clients and third parties while maintaining confidentiality of client matters. Primary duty is the performance of work directly related to the management of the Firm’s clients.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Data Management

Assist the Technical Operating Coordinators with the management of the LTCS Data room, which includes 26 desktop computers.

Assist the Senior Forensic Consultant with management of the Alston Discovery forensic hardware stored in the LTCS Data Room.

Own the data intake, chain of custody, and tracking processes for all data received or sent out by LTCS.
-
Manage the plugging and unplugging of hard drives into the desktops in the LTCS Data Room and the coordination with LTCS technology teams regarding this process.

Track outgoing hard drives by serial and matter number, and coordinate with LTCS assistant and LTCS technology teams regarding their shipment.

Bar-code and send hard drives to Records for storage upon completion of the upload or download of data by the LTCS technology teams.

Assist LTCS assistant in managing archival and data disposition requests, including management of the Relativity Data Disposition mailbox.

Assist LTCS assistant in maintaining the Alston Discovery Data Reporting database.

Assist with updating the department’s data management processes and procedures.

Provide regular reports to the LTCS technology teams and management regarding intake and inventory status.

Perform any additional duties or special projects required by client needs.

Maintain confidentiality of all firm/client matters
Digital Forensics
Assist Senior Digital Forensic Consultant with the following:

ATL phone collections
-
Connecting Phones in the LTCS Data Room

Troubleshooting Phone connections
-
Connect and disconnect drives in LTCS Data Room

Connect drives to write blockers for collection

Updating documentation
-
Self-Collection Documents
-
Forensics SOPs
-
Chain of custody
-
Acquisition documentation

Assist with on-site ATL collections if needed

Return / Pick up laptops/desktops/drives/phones from custodians

Coordinate with the LTCS assistant for shipping hard drives for collection, accepting drives returning from collection, and bar-coding drives to be sent to Records
SKILLS NEEDED TO BE SUCCESSFUL

Operate standard office equipment such as computers, photocopiers, and printers.

Work infrequently requires more than 40 hours per week to perform the essential duties of the position.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
-
Ability to understand procedures and instructions specific to the area of assignment as would be acquired during four years of high school.

A minimum of a four-year bachelor’s degree is preferred.
-
Previous experience of 4 or more years of Litigation support experience in a law firm, corporation, or e-discovery vendor is preferred.
