We are looking for a Data Engineering Lead

Target total compensation ranges from $375,000 - $515,000, including a fixed annual salary of $250,000 - $315,000, an employee equity plan grant, and world-class benefits. 

Equity grants are issued in good faith, subject to company policies, board approval, and individual eligibility.

We’re looking for a Data Engineering Lead to join our Identity team—one of the most impactful and technically challenging areas of our platform. This team owns the systems responsible for resolving customer identity across channels and sources, at massive scale.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in the intersection of deep technical problem solving and product-driven thinking. You’ll partner closely with product and engineering teams to design and deliver data systems that directly power user-facing features. While you’ll bring architectural insight, this is a highly hands-on IC role—you’ll be writing production code, tuning Spark pipelines, and translating business needs into scalable systems daily.
You’ll play a critical part in shaping the performance, reliability, and direction of our data platform—helping us deliver fast, safe, and personalized customer experiences at scale.

About the Role:

• Build and optimize production-grade data pipelines using Apache Spark and Kubernetes to support real-time and customer-facing features.
• Translate product and business requirements into scalable, maintainable data architecture across batch and streaming systems.
• Partner with product managers, ML teams, and analytics stakeholders to co-own roadmap delivery and system evolution.
• Define and implement data governance, quality, and lineage strategies with an automation-first mindset.
• Lead by example as a hands-on contributor, actively mentoring others while owning key technical initiatives.

Requirements

About You:

• 5+ years of experience in data engineering, with a track record of building and optimizing distributed data systems.
• Strong proficiency in Spark, with the ability to tune performance and debug complex pipelines at scale.
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and containerized data processing environments.
• Familiarity with cloud-native architecture (AWS preferred), ETL design patterns, data lakes, and ML compute frameworks.
• Experience integrating streaming technologies like Kafka or Flink into production systems.
• Skilled at system design using both relational and NoSQL databases.
• A collaborative mindset with strong communication skills and a passion for mentoring and teaching.
• A desire to lead technically while being a hands-on IC.
