About the Role

As a Data Analyst at Hex you’ll provide strategic and tactical decision making partnership to functions including marketing, product, growth, revenue, finance, and growth. Hex’s bold vision for the future of how data teams work means we’re making some big bets, and we’ll need analytical insights to help the teams working on them succeed.

As an analyst at Hex, you’ll focus on one initiative or goal with a partner team or stakeholder at a time. Your job is done when the decision is made, the metric is moved, or the next steps are clear, and then you’ll move on to the next highest priority. We’re focused on getting to a win for our partners — not tossing dashboards or reports over the fence and walking away.

As a member of our data team, you’ll also help maintain our suite of data apps and operational reporting, provide feedback to our product team, and get exclusive access to features before their release. You’ll be joining a team of four — our Head of Data, two senior analytics engineers, and a senior analyst.

What you will do:

  • Partner with leaders to arm them with insights to understand if their strategies and tactics are producing the desired outcomes for Hex
  • Perform high-quality quantitative or qualitative analyses and present takeaways or recommended courses of action to business partners
  • Design and build Hex apps to enable stakeholders to self serve insights and understand day-to-day functional performance
  • Define and iterate new metrics as needed to support understanding and success of new initiatives
  • Steward the collections of apps used to monitor metrics and performance at the overall company and team level to ensure they are accurate, trustable, and up to date
  • Contribute to the maintenance and completeness of the data warehouse at Hex by adding or improving dbt models as needed
  • Partner with our product teams to make Hex stunning by testing new features and providing feedback on functionality

About you:

  • 2+ year of experience in an analytical role such as a data analyst, business intelligence, product analytics, marketing analytics, etc
  • Advanced SQL skills and familiarity with the capabilities of modern cloud data warehouses
  • Demonstrated ability to see analysis through to the end impact for business partners — the “so what” or win for your stakeholder as a result of the insight
  • Familiarity with key metrics for B2B SaaS companies, with specific domain experience in at least one of marketing, product, growth or revenue
  • A penchant for understanding the business process and strategy behind the data questions that come your way to identify opportunities to solve the need not the want behind the ask
  • Familiarity with best practices for data visualization and the design of dashboards and data apps
  • History of building collaborative and trusting relationships with supported stakeholders
  • Nice to haves:
    • Experience with dbt, git, or Python
    • Experience with experimentation

In addition to our unique culture, Hex proudly offers a competitive total rewards package, including but not limited to, market-benched salary & equity, comprehensive health benefits, and flexible paid time off.

The salary band for this role is: $140,000 - $160,000
The salary range shown may be a reflection of additional factors such as geographical location and skill ranges/levels we’re open to. Placement in the salary range will be decided upon completion of the interview process, taking into account factors like leaving room for growth, internal fairness & parity, your demonstrated skills, and the depth of your experience. Our Recruiting team will be able to provide more details during the interview process.

What We Do

We're building a collaborative platform for data science and analytics. Our product empowers users to explore, analyze, and share data more effectively and has become essential to how data teams at 800+ companies like Notion, Brex, and Fivetran operate.

Every day, Hex empowers thousands of people to ask and answer new questions of data, and seamlessly share the results with everyone. We have a big vision for analytics, where everyone can access and create knowledge from data – and there’s so much left to do. Our roadmap is full of big ideas and little details, and we want your help bringing them to life.

Why Work With Us

We’re a team of builders. We spend our days designing and developing beautiful products, growing and supporting our user base, and helping each other succeed and learn. To do that, we've developed a culture focused on quality, craft, and speed -- with very few meetings, bias toward action, and taking care of each other through feedback and support.
