CLOUD ENGINEER

LOCATION:  Rosslyn, VA -  40% onsite support (but willing to go to site more if needed)

CLEARANCE LEVEL:  Secret; but able to get a Top Secret

RESPONSIBILITES:

• Apply a DevSecOps approach to build, secure and manage a cloud environment in support of the customer and their mission
• Implement platform capabilities utilizing cloud-centric technologies
• Interact with system owners to collect telemetry data for incident response monitoring
• Develop, test, deploy, and maintain cloud services as Infrastructure as Code
• Check the health and performance of cloud resources (Azure/AWS/Google Cloud)
• Conduct code reviews for pull requests to ensure coding standards and practices are followed
• Stay updated on best practices for cloud security and implement changes as needed
• Serve as a cloud broker to train and mentor junior staff members
• Assist with documentation and other project artifacts
• Work as a key contributor on a collaborative, and highly skilled team

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 

• 9 Years with Bachelors in Science; 
• 7 Years with Masters;
• 4 Years with PhD

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

• Cloud experience 
• Azure preferred, AWS/Google nice to have 
• Knowledge of the Azure Fundamentals certification focus areas mandatory
• Knowledge AWS Fundamentals certification focus areas good to have
• Azure Cloud certification
• Identity Management and Access Management basics: RBAC, Active Directory, Least privilege principles 
• All around strong understanding of IT infrastructure
• Must have an understanding of Networking, firewalls, Storage, PKI, LDAP, etc.
• Must have experience with IT system integration into customer networks
• Experience in IDEs (like VSCODE or similar)
• Understand and know Git (forks, branches, PRs)
• Need to have understanding of basic DevOps and CI/CD Processes
• Forks, Branches, Pull Requests
• Working knowledge of Powershell and Bash shell scripting languages (A MUST)
• Proven coding skills
• Ability to write Infrastructure As Code
• Experience with at least one of the following
• Terraform or Bicep experience 
• Cloud Formation or ARM template experience
• Understanding of JSON and YAML file\data formats (nice to have)
• Strong desire and ability to learn new things
