Cybersecurity GRC Analyst Intern

Talen Energy is seeking a skilled and proactive Cybersecurity GRC Analyst Intern to join our dynamic cybersecurity team. The Cyber Analyst Intern will play a critical role in identifying, managing, and mitigating risks related to information security and ensuring compliance with industry standards, regulations, and internal policies. 

What will you own?

• Security Policy Development: Collaborate in the development and refinement of security policies aligning to NIST Cybersecurity Framework (NIST CSF). 

• Risk Assessments and Decision-Making:  You will work on quantifying and prioritizing risks to assist in decision-making. 

• Compliance Monitoring and Updates: Assist in ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory requirements including Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX).  

• Identity Governance Administration (IGA): Work closely with the team to initiate access review campaigns. Work with various stakeholders to gather requirements and feedback related to identity governance. 

Required Skills

• Demonstrated analytical and critical thinking abilities

• Strong verbal and written communication skills

• Basic understanding of NIST CSF, SOX, risk management, and cybersecurity principles Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team in virtual and in-person environments

Basic Qualifications

• Currently enrolled as a student at an accredited college or university

• Must be a rising junior or senior pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, Security and Risk Management or a related discipline

• Enrolled full-time with a minimum of 12 semester hours

• Maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher

• Eligible to work in the U.S. in accordance with BCIS guidelines

• Able to provide an official student transcript and any other required documentation

• Proven interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and work effectively with others

• Demonstrated leadership potential through academic, extracurricular, or community involvement

• Internship eligibility ends upon graduation from the academic program
