The role:
As a Cybersecurity and Network Architect, you play a crucial role in ensuring that our ship networks and automation systems are secure, reliable, and compliant with the latest cybersecurity regulations. You will work closely with one of our Engineering Specialists and the Digital department, which focuses on developing cloud solutions for data from dredging vessels built by IHC.
Cybersecurity is becoming increasingly important in our ships. Every new vessel we build must meet stringent cybersecurity standards. A solid foundation has been established, but it needs further development and improvement. You will oversee and/or contribute to the implementation phase, promote awareness, define acceptance criteria, and design and execute comprehensive test plans. As part of the engineering team, consisting of 29 professionals, you will act as a coach during the engineering phase, guiding colleagues on how to adapt systems, networks, and processes to enhance security. Ultimately, you will also conduct tests to validate these improvements.
Your job:
In this role, you are responsible for designing and implementing secure and efficient networks for our ships. You have a dual role: a strategic advisor who defines the framework and standards, and a hands-on professional who ensures seamless implementation. You guide project teams through the process, from engineering to testing, while fostering a culture of cybersecurity awareness.
Your responsibilities include:
- Designing and maintaining the cybersecurity architecture, ensuring compliance with industry standards (e.g., IEC-62443).
- Guiding engineers during the design phase by explaining required adjustments, highlighting critical focus areas, and providing practical insights.
- Collaborating with the Digital department on the development of ship-to-cloud infrastructures.
- Implementing and configuring network structures, including virtualized systems for dredging and offshore vessels.
- Developing and executing acceptance criteria and test scenarios for cybersecurity measures.
- Testing systems to validate their security and reliability.
- Increasing awareness among engineering teams about cybersecurity best practices and promoting a security-first mindset.
- Supporting project teams to ensure that new ships comply with all cybersecurity standards and regulations.
In this role, you ensure that every ship we build not only meets regulations but is also resilient against modern cyber threats. You will play a crucial role in integrating cybersecurity into our engineering culture.
Your profile:
We are looking for someone who meets the following requirements:
- HBO+ or university degree in ICT, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Several years of experience as a network architect and/or cybersecurity specialist.
- A strong team player with excellent persuasive skills.
- Extensive knowledge of network components such as Cisco, Stratix, and Fortigate, as well as centralized maintenance, network monitoring, and SIEM solutions (e.g., Endpoint Central, Zabbix, Wazuh).
- Proficiency in virtualization platforms such as VMware ESXi.
- Knowledge of redundancy for ICT systems.
- Familiarity with scripting languages.
-
A solid foundation in technical English; proficiency in Dutch is a plus
Only candidates with a valid EU work visa will be considered.
We offer:
- A competitive gross monthly salary + 8% holiday allowance (based on a full-time working week).
- Good work/life balance with 40 vacation days for full-time employment with the option to buy or sell (additional) leave.
- The possibility to work from home with associated expense allowance and/or to perform the work on the basis of flexible working hours (depending on the position).
- An average salary pension scheme in which matters are properly arranged in the event of accidental death, incapacity for work or unemployment.
- Good disability insurance.
- Participation (on a voluntary basis) in the Social Fund, on the basis of which care and related costs are reimbursed that are not covered by your health insurance.
- Discount on VGZ's additional healthcare insurance.
- A training budget of €1,500 every three years.
- Unlimited sporting in our own fitness room (in exchange for the sustainable employability day).
- € 0,21 per kilometer commuting allowance.
- A profit-sharing scheme.
In 2042 (when we exist 400 years) Royal IHC will be a fully sustainable company with a net-zero portfolio.
Selection process:
After your application, a CV screening will take place. If your profile aligns sufficiently, a brief telephone intake with the Corporate Recruiter will follow. If not, you will be informed via email. The selection process consists of two interview rounds. The first interview will be with the manager and a direct colleague. During the second interview, another manager and someone from HR will join. If everyone is enthusiastic, a phone call will follow to discuss the terms of employment.
