Position: Cyber Claims Specialist
Reporting to: Group Head of Cyber Product
The Role
The Cyber Claims Specialist is integral to the design, development and delivery of our Retail cyber insurance products and services. You will support the end-to-end product development lifecycle, and leverage technology advancements in claims handling to ensure that both Hiscox and our customers stay one step ahead of the ever-evolving threat landscape.
You will focus on developing the customer digital journey, together with the integration of new technologies to streamline the claims management processes. You will work closely with stakeholders to continuously enhance the customer experience and support with the assessment of our most complex cyber claims.
This is an exciting time to join our global Centre of Excellence for cyber products and proposition. We are pioneering the next generation of our cyber products for all our retail customers – regardless of which market they are in. As such, you will need a broad understanding of insurance product development, underwriting, claims and exposure management. You will also need to understand the cyber market, and be able to advise retail BU claims handlers on policy coverage, terms and exclusions.
This permanent role reports directly to the Group Head of Cyber Product and can be based from any Hiscox location.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse portfolio claims, identifying trends, root causes, and emerging risks in cyber claims to provide actionable insights for underwriting and claims teams.
- Collaborate with underwriting, technology, and product teams to design and enhance the underwriting journey based on claims data, ensuring a technology-driven, seamless experience.
- Utilise claims data and analytics tools to improve claims decision-making, drive operational efficiencies, and refine risk assessments in the underwriting process.
- Work with cross-functional teams to integrate technology solutions into claims handling, improving workflow, automation, and response times for FNOL and claims management.
- Assess and recommend innovative technological tools to streamline FNOL processes and enhance claims intake efficiency.
- Provide expert input on cyber risk claims and claims handling processes, ensuring the integration of lessons learned from claims data into underwriting and risk assessment practices.
- Collaborate with the IT and project management teams to support the implementation of new claims technologies, ensuring alignment with business goals and claims strategies.
- Develop and maintain best practices for cyber claims handling, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and quality in claims resolution.
- Monitor the performance of claims-related technology solutions, ensuring they meet the needs of internal teams and policyholders.
- Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and external customers, providing clear updates and support regarding claims processes, technology initiatives, and FNOL procedures.
- Stay informed about the latest trends in cyber risks, claims management, and technology advancements to recommend improvements and new approaches to claims handling.
Candidate Profile
- Minimum of 5 years experience in a claims related role.
- Excellent communication (English proficiency) and interpersonal skills with the ability to build and manage stakeholder relationships.
- Ability to thrive in a Group level function working with different markets, countries and cultures.
- Experience with the end-to-end claims management lifecycle, including first-party and third-party claims triggers.
- Familiarity with claims software and platforms including the use of emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence.
- Knowledge of current market claims conditions and emerging opportunities in cybersecurity.
- Good knowledge of security frameworks, standards, and best practices (e.g., NIST, ISO, CIS, etc.).
- Ability to think analytically and creatively to assess and interpret data to drive decisions.
- Bachelor’s degree in Law, Risk Management, Cybersecurity, or a related field is desirable.
- Proven experience in cyber claims or a related field is desirable.
- Experience of trading in retail insurance markets in the US, UK and EU is highly desirable.
