Job Summary
Overall job purpose
Absa Group Limited is required to conduct a periodic review on all its customers and relationships in accordance with their risk rating under both the local regulatory framework and under the Group Anti-Money Laundering (AML) policy requirements. The key objective of this role is to ensure that the customer information and supporting documents meet the Know Your Customer (KYC) requirements as per the AML policies, supporting standards and applicable legislations.

Key accountabilities
Accountability: Operations
- Review updated documents and information as and when received from clients and front office team.
- Ensure continuous and timely follow-ups schedules until gaps are resolved.
- Engage with Coverage/client with regards to the Review exercise.
- Review entails the remediation exercise of High and Standard Risk Customer, Pep clients, and Management Companies, Correspondent Banking Review for both local and international banks.
- Perform screening of shareholders/ authorized signatories/ directors via internet search, world check and due diligence.
- Advise account opening/ Records Management team of any mandate change on signatory.
- Engage proactively with FCC, IRM, and coverage teams who are the major stakeholders.
- Review of KYC records on core banking system to ensure completeness of data held on system.
- Update system to reflect any change in data during the refresh exercise.
- System and file updates should be completed within deadline.
- Make use of decision tree as the main guideline for the refresh exercise, whilst ensuring that you are familiar with the relative regulatory guidelines.
- Visit customers as and when required to collect documents.
- Liaise with customers for missing documents and follow up on same so as to meet deadline. Perform any other duties as may be required by Team Leader.
