About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Lead Credit Analyst to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in credit risk & financials statement analysis, financial reporting, and data management. This role requires a combination of credit analysis expertise, credit risk management, collections support, and advanced SQL skills to analyze and effectively manage customer credit data.
What the Candidate Will Do
- Credit Risk Management: Assess the creditworthiness of new and existing customers by analyzing financial statements, credit reports, payment histories, and industry trends.
- Credit Limit Setting: Establish and manage credit limits for customers based on their financial health, sales volume, and payment history.
- Active Monitoring: Continuously monitor customer accounts, identify potential credit risks, and proactively address any emerging issues that could impact payment or financial stability.
- Collections Support: Work closely with the collections team to support efforts in managing overdue accounts, ensuring that customers adhere to payment terms. Actively engage with customers to resolve outstanding balances and facilitate payment plans when necessary.
- Dispute Resolution: Assist in resolving any disputes or issues related to trade credit, collaborating with customers and internal teams to find timely solutions.
- Reporting & Analysis: Prepare and present regular reports on the status of accounts, outstanding debts, and overall trade credit risk, providing actionable insights to management.
- Policy Development: Contribute to the development, implementation, and enforcement of credit policies and procedures that mitigate risk and ensure compliance.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the sales, collections and legal teams to ensure credit decisions align with overall business objectives, support customer relationships, and avoid unnecessary financial risk.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal controls regarding credit and financial transactions.
- Continuous Improvement: Recommend and implement improvements to credit processes, collection strategies, and monitoring efforts to reduce risk and improve efficiency.
Basic Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent work experience.
- 2+ years working in credit analysis, financial analysis, credit risk, or a related role in a B2B environment, ideally as a Credit Analyst, Credit Specialist, or Underwriter.
- Experience working with the Order to Cash process.
- Ability to read, understand and analyze credit reports, financial statements, and tax returns.
- SQL proficiency, advanced excel/data management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in transportation and/or freight industry.
- Experience working with 3rd party vendors.
- Ability to lead and collaborate effectively in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
- Experience collaborating with and presenting to Sr. Management.
- Experience in streamlining processes, automating workflows, and implementing systems to reduce manual tasks and improve operational efficiency.
- Proven experience using data to uncover insights, track KPIs, and drive operational improvements, particularly in credit, collections and/or accounts receivable.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
