Reporting directly to the Finance Manager - Africa, we are looking for an energetic and enthusiastic Credit Controller to be based in our Johannesburg office. In this role, you will be responsible for executing KONE South Africa’s credit finance-related activities in the end-to-end Order-to-Cash process and drive collaboration with related stakeholders. The Credit Controller coordinates the credit management, collection, and dispute routing processes to meet KONE South Africa’s short and long-term business objectives in compliance with relevant regulations and accounting standards.

What you will do:

  • Lead and mentor the credit control team to achieve departmental goals.
  • Develop team members' skills through coaching, training, and performance appraisals.
  • Assess and analyze the creditworthiness of new and existing customers.
  • Establish and maintain credit policies and risk management strategies.
  • Oversee timely collection of receivables to minimize overdue accounts.
  • Develop strategies for recovering outstanding debts and reducing bad debt provisions.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on credit performance and risk to senior management.
  • Analyse trends and identify opportunities for process improvements.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, internal departments, and external partners.
  • Resolve disputes and negotiate payment plans where necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Maintain accurate credit records and documentation.
  • Frequent travel to other branches within South Africa.

Are you the one?

  • Finance and/or Credit Qualification – credit management experience.
  • Experience in credit management with a min 5 - 10 years of professional experience.
  • Proven experience in credit control, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of credit risk management and financial analysis.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems ([e.g., SAP, Oracle, etc.]).
  • Highly motivated, goal-oriented, diligent, organized self-starter with an orientation towards a high level of customer service.
  • Ability to interpret and analyze data to draw conclusions and identify patterns.
  • Ability to work together as a team and promote a harmonious environment.
  • Excellent English communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
