This Counsel position provides legal support to Protective’s Human Resources Department, advising on a variety of employee relations issues and employment laws, such as the FMLA, Title VII, ADA, OSHA, and state and local leave laws.
Primary Job Functions:
- Assisting the VP, Managing Counsel with advising the Human Resources Department on employment-related legal matters, employee relations issues, and litigation
- Reviewing and maintaining appropriate policies and procedures to ensure ongoing compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, including employee leave laws, wage and hour laws, anti-discrimination laws, hiring practice laws, and workplace safety requirements
- Tracking federal, state, and local employment laws for compliance purposes
- Assisting the Human Resources Department with employee training to help ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws
- Preparing staffing agency and other third-party worker agreements
- Working with outside immigration law counsel to manage employee visa filings
- Other duties as assigned
Work Experience, Education, Certification/Training Required:
- Bachelor’s degree and J.D.
- Currently admitted to a state bar and in good standing
- A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience advising clients on employment laws and related employment issues required
- Law firm experience strongly preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Self-starter with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including: Word and Excel
Protective’s targeted salary range for this position is $120,000 to $140,000. Actual salaries may vary depending on factors, including but not limited to, job location, skills, and experience. The range listed is just one component of Protective’s total compensation package for employees.
