Job Title: Corporate Counsel

Reports to: Managing Corporate Counsel - LATAM

Location: Mexico City

We have an excellent opportunity to join Genesys as Associate Corporate Counsel. The successful candidate will provide mainly commercial legal support to the Sales and Channel organizations in the LATAM region. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial transactions with an emphasis on technology transactions, particularly SaaS agreements. This position will report to the Managing Corporate Counsel for LATAM.

Key Responsibilities

Corporate Counsel

  • Support Genesys sales growth in LATAM by drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a broad range of agreements with a primary focus on cloud services and SaaS, channel partner agreements, software license and support agreements, and professional services agreements.
  • Provide commercial and general legal advice to the business, including providing advice to internal stakeholders in connection with company processes and procedures.
  • Supporting the LATAM legal team to drive efficiency in its processes and act as a point of contact with the Legal Operations team to ensure alignment with best practices globally.
  • Supporting RFP responses from a legal perspective.
  • Keeping abreast of the latest legal and regulatory developments relating to cloud-based software solutions, and knowledge sharing with team members.
  • Regularly contribute to and refine Genesys’ templates, playbooks, and guidance documents. 

Required Skills

  • Law Degree from an accredited law school in Mexico.
  • Licensed to practice law in Mexico.
  • 8-10 years’ Post-Qualified Experience in the Technology team of reputable law firm, or equivalent in-house experience working with SaaS agreements.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and contract drafting skills.
  • Knowledge of intellectual property laws would be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of competition law in a technology context would be desirable.
  • Consistent good judgment and ability to apply legal knowledge to help create practical business solutions.
  • Ability to work well under pressure with diligence, organization, and minimal supervision, and provide practical advice to clients.
  • Ability to manage a diverse and complex workload while maintaining priorities and proactively anticipating issues.
  • Demonstrated experience and skills in managing a volume of large and/or strategic agreements and a suite of agreement templates through collaboration tools.
  • Must be flexible and able to adapt to changes and deadlines.
  • A self-starter who operates well in a fast-paced environment that places a strong premium on integrity, excellence, execution, and teamwork.
  • Fluency in English is required (verbal and written).
  • Foreign languages (particularly Portuguese), or experience of negotiating SaaS agreements with Financial Institutions or the Public Sector would be an advantage.
