Are you a natural storyteller? Do concepting and creating feel akin to breathing? Can you write and edit for tone, down to the decibel, and carry a concept from ideation through to completion? Is teamwork your love language? If you answered yes to all these questions, we want to meet you.
The eBay Brand Creative team is looking for a hardworking writer, editor, and creative leader for our Sneakers category. You you are a strong storyteller who can concept, write, and shape brand-building copy no matter the form—from video scripts and social posts to landing pages and headlines. You’re also a shrewd editor who knows how to apply our brand voice to all forms of written work, and can deliver feedback to external partners effectively and politely. You have boundless creativity and curiosity, a customer-first lens, and rock-solid concepting skills. A background in fashion is a huge plus, but not critical as long as there’s passion and capability for fast, on-the-job learning.
What you’ll do:
-
Oversee the work of senior copywriters within the Brand Creative team, and serve as steward for the eBay voice across all touchpoints.
-
Review and uplevel the work from multiple external agencies; projects range from full-funnel media campaigns to onsite banners to event booths.
-
Concept and develop creative for video, social, onsite, offsite display, and more.
-
Write pitch-perfect, on-brand copy that’s tailored to our enthusiast motors audience.
-
Collaborate closely with marketing, social strategy, the business team, events team, and other partners to bring campaigns to life.
-
Present copy and creative to key partners with clarity and professionalism.
-
Serve as a leader within the Sneakers vertical and the point person for creative (alongside the Sneakers Art Director).
-
Occasional travel to Sneakers events and video/photoshoots is expected.
What you offer:
-
Bachelor’s degree in English, Creative Writing, Journalism, or a related field.
-
A minimum of 5+ years writing, editing, and concepting in the marketing, advertising, or media world, with the portfolio to prove it.
-
The ability to study, learn, and apply our POV, brand voice, and nuances immediately and to successful effect.
-
Facility with Google docs, slides, and sheets; familiarity with Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, and Monday a plus.
-
A creative vision, razor sharp writing and editing skills, and the ability to offer endless iterations on one subject.
-
A collaborative can-do attitude, openness to sharing ideas in an open forum, and ability to receive feedback and apply it constructively.
-
An ability to work in a fast-paced environment, while juggling multiple tasks from multiple partners.
-
A flexible attitude and a roll-with-it demeanor.
-
A sense of humor—but no puns, please.
Who you’ll work with:
-
An award-winning internal creative team made up of senior writers and designers, motion designers, art directors, copy managers, videographers, associate creative directors, and creative directors.
-
A passionate, hardworking, and nimble bunch for whom no project is too small and none too big (read: daunting) for us to deliver on.
-
We prioritize effort over ego, creativity over quick completion, and quality over absolutely everything.
Where you’ll work:
-
A diverse marketplace that brings people together from around the world, uniting them in shared passions and connecting them to the things they love.
-
Our San Francisco or San Jose office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays; the other days are remote.
