We are seeking a proactive, detail-oriented Product Development Coordinator to support the development, testing and commercialization of innovative beauty products. This role will support the end-to-end development process, assist the Product Development team with a variety of tasks throughout the product development lifecycle, and aid in ongoing quality reviews, product performance monitoring, and documentation. The Coordinator will help plan and manage product testing, execute surveys, prepare analyses, and insights to inform ongoing development, while ensuring projects align with brand standards and timelines. You will also conduct regular category and competitive research and publish findings to the larger team.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about the beauty industry, beauty products, and have a good eye for color and texture. You are curious, detail-oriented, and highly organized, with a great ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines while thriving in a fast-paced environment.  You take initiative, execute with confidence, communicate effectively, and ask questions/seek direction when needed.  You are keen to learn and maintain a can-do mindset.

WHAT YOU DO:

  • Support/execute product testing, including planning, panel and sample coordination, survey development, analysis, and reporting
  • Track progress on multiple projects, ensuring all milestones and deadlines are met
  • Support in management of formula submissions, evaluation, and organization of product samples from contract manufacturers
  • Help maintain a detailed library of product formulations and shade ranges
  • Conduct initial testing of samples and provide feedback to the development team
  • Monitor and report on product performance, highlighting strengths as well as any issues/opportunities for improvement
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, prepare quarterly competitive reports as well as reports/insights on color and formula trends
  • Present insights to the team to help inform development strategies and briefs
  • Draft and/or coordinate product briefs, as required
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams including marketing, packaging, and regulatory to drive projects forward
  • Coordinate and track product safety testing and various samples for cross-departmental needs (Regulatory, Creative, Marketing, Trade, etc.)
  • Create and maintain accurate detailed product specification sheets and documentation for internal use and tracking
  • Assist with product sample routing, testing, and shipping
  • Work with the Product Development team and manufacturers to establish lab and production standards for all new launches
  • Develop a strong understanding of the formula/shade evaluation process and assist in reviewing batch submissions for all new product launches; provide disposition while ensuring they meet approved formula standards and specifications
  • Identify QC discrepancies and escalate issues to ensure corrective actions are taken promptly
  • Support with documentation and other administrative tasks, as needed
  • Assist with preparing presentations and collateral/samples for meetings, as assigned
  • Coordinate and attend vendor meetings, as required
  • Perform in store product shopping, as needed

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, ideally in the beauty industry
  • Minimum 2 years of experience, preferably working in product development and/or project management
  • Must love makeup and be excited about participation in product creation
  • Self-starter, able to work independently and take initiative
  • Excellent time and project management skills, including prioritization and escalation
  • Ability to juggle multiple assignments
  • Great attention to detail and follow-through
  • Analytical with strong presentation skills
  • Collaborative mindset with a proactive and problem-solving attitude
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, interpersonal) across all levels of organization
  • Highly adaptable, with seamless ability to take on new challenges and switch gears as necessary
  • Must be able to work from Corporate Office at least 60% of the time, as needed
  • Proficient with MS Office, project management software, and survey tools

The expected hourly rate for this position is $30.00 -$33.00. The exact base compensation is determined by various factors including experience, skills, education, geographic location, and budget.

This position is also eligible for participation in the company discretionary bonus plan, based on personal performance and company results.
