Hexcel is currently seeking a Controls Engineer I for our Casa Grande, USA location. The Controls Engineer I is responsible for the programming and implementation of PLC/HMI based control systems in a continuous processing environment and supports system commissioning and final documentation tasks on all assigned projects.

The selected individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following obligations:

  • Provide support to optimize plant manufacturing control system processes. Troubleshoot electrical controls related process issues.
  • Support development of custom data interfaces to industrial equipment using both standard and proprietary protocols
  • Provide guidance to Control Technician(s) related to controls projects
  • Design report formulas with emphasis on both logical data presentation & overall report aesthetics as well as database structures based on requirements and needs
  • Develop SQL reports for industrial application, databases, and user interfaces for data entry and retrieval.
  • Support in-house MES and process equipment control systems such as: electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics; control panel design and fabrication; vision systems; PLC hardware/software; motion control; MES collection systems, and advanced automated machinery controls.
  • Establish and maintain a professional and consistent work environment to help ensure Casa Grande remains a viable and healthy facility and provides a satisfactory work environment. Work in a team environment to reach consensus decisions within the guidelines and boundaries established by the company, and maintain a constructive relationships with co-workers.
  • Maintain a safe, clean and secure work environment.  Actively support and interact in monthly and/or plant refresher safety training using available resources and prescribed goals to determine and subsequently help eliminate actual and potential safety issues, unsafe acts and/or conditions to preclude accidents, to keep Hexcel employees safe, and to achieve the Department/Plant and/or Corporate Safety goals and objectives. Operate at all times in compliance with the Hexcel Casa Grande Quality System and Quality Policy. Comply with Hexcel policies, procedures, and Code of Business Conduct.

Qualifications:

  • Associate Degree or equivalent Technical Degree (i.e. Electrical Engineering, Electronics Technology or Automation) from an accredited college or technical school, plus a minimum of two years’ experience with industrial controls required; OR a minimum of five years’ directly related Controls Technician experience in a closely related manufacturing industry.
  • Working knowledge of Ethernet networking principles and managed switch configuration
  • Demonstrated experience creating and reading logic and flow diagrams for program design, programming simulation, testing, and start-up
  • Demonstrated experience with instrumentation calibration
  • Proficiency in and knowledge of MES and process controls systems such as: Rockwell FTView SE, VantagePoint, Historian SE, Logix software platforms
  • ISRA, Cognex vision systems, VFD and servo drives, InduSoft Web Studio SCADA/HMI development software, Allen Bradley ControlLogix, CompactLogix, MicroLogix, and SLC 500 software, automation DirectLogic PLCs, and C-More HMIs
  • Knowledge related to electrical control hardware and software in accordance with local and national electrical codes, and standards set by OSHA, NEC and NFPA 
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook) 
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
