About the role

We are looking for a Controllership Analyst who will run the operational processes related to the accounting closing and the regulatory reporting for the team, maintaining internal control improvements and process automations to ensure practices are in place to achieve the highest standards in the preparation of it. Also, the Controllership Analyst will perform activities that include recording journals in the accounting ERP system, analyzing financial information from Nu Colombia's products, and coordinating the demands within internal and external auditors for the Global Product Accounting team.

 

We are looking for a Controllership Analyst who has:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • 4+ years professional experience working in financial institutions.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge including CUIF and IFRS.
  • Proven experience preparing accounting journals, conciliations, running accounting closings and monthly accounting reports, as well as automatizing processes.
  • Demonstrated experience with preparation and review of Superintendencia Financiera de Colombia accounting regulatory reports.
  • Support internal and external audits to ensure compliance of accounting and financial statements reporting.
  • Solid analytical background and data-driven mindset. Must be comfortable manipulating big and small datasets to make decisions (SQL knowledge is desirable).
  • Ability to tackle complex problems involving a number of topics/variables, such as business, regulatory, operations and product features.
  • Strong interpersonal and project management skills and able to communicate well with different stakeholders
  • Advanced English level. Must be comfortable with oral and written communication.
  • Advanced use of Excel and Google suite.
  • SAP experience preferred.

As a Controllership Analyst, you'll be expected to:

  • Analyze and understand how financial products work in the Colombian market, as well as their respective regulations.
  • Generate, review and deliver regulatory reports to the different regulators.
  • Review and create journal entries for accounting closing purposes, also performing and enhancing reconciliations and automations.
  • Build reports regarding Nu Colombia’s product portfolio financials for internal forums and support on building the local Financial Statements and preparing the reporting package for Nu Holdings.
  • Attend internal and external audits.
  • Work alongside Engineers and Product Managers, collaborating with specification, design, and implementation of data architecture for building solutions, improving and automatizing processes and controls for Controllership.
  • Produce and maintain proper documentation of product accounting and regulatory reporting definitions.

The position is based in Bogotá, Colombia. 

Nubank continues to hire for all open roles, all interviewing and onboarding is done virtually. Everyone new to the team and our current staff will be working from home for 7-8 weeks and 1 at the office (Bogotá).
