Job title: Control Automation & Optimisation Manager
Location: Edinburgh, Bristol or Leeds
Salary: £65,385 - £72,650
Hours: Full time
Working Pattern: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at our above offices.

As Control Automation & Optimisation Manager, you'll play a meaningful role within this change and transformation and help build a function that will provide an outstanding Controls Service to accelerate transformation safely. At the heart of supporting IP&I’s transformation, you’ll drive a control focussed culture across the end-to-end IP&I business, focussed on driving optimisation and automation of controls right across our business.
What you’ll be doing:

Work with risk and control owner teams to help deliver against aligned customer, business and strategic outcomes. Supporting the ongoing development of control tooling solutions to enable the optimisation and automation of the control environment.

Train and educate colleagues across IP&I on Control by Design (CbD), including usage of the methodology to support the business to design in preventative and automated controls during change. Analyse and assess control environment efficiency using a wide range of sources and identifies potential impacts on the business.

Assist the development of the first line control management centre of excellence that supports safe growth and enables high quality customer service. Support the development and implementation of the strategy to supervise and test the design and operating efficiency across e2e business processes.

Coordinate and prepare documentation, while also gathering and summarising data and information, to produce and maintain a set of standardised process maps to support controls analysis and optimisation.

Assist in the management of actions on operational risk events and breaches following Risk & Control Self-Assessment (RCSA), specifically focussed on Root Cause Analysis and read-across opportunities to identify potential control enhancement actions. Identifies issues and then suggests and implements improvements to control environment with guidance from senior colleagues.

What you’ll need:
-
Risk & Control Management: Strong risk and control management knowledge. You'll understand controls and their practical implementation across relevant financial services subject areas and risk types. You'll also have a strong understanding and practical application of control testing and monitoring activities, with experience of delivering control design and optimisation. Some knowledge and experience of the approaches taken to manage non-financial/financial risk and a good technical understanding of business processes.

Change/Transformation: Experience of transforming and changing businesses, with a particular focus on control implementation and re-engineering. Can provide input into critical thinking and contribute to both short- and medium-term strategies.

People/stakeholder management: You've experience of building partnerships and working collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives. Can mentor others in your area of expertise to drive an uplift in skills and culture throughout the organisation. Excellent interpersonal and presentational skills, both upwards to director level and downwards. This also includes the ability to work across different Group functions, using influencing skills to drive a control focussed culture. Strong ability to communicate and describe drivers of change and able to plan and implement these changes by gaining dedication and understanding across the organisation.
Previous experience and knowledge of the IP&I landscape and products will provide a strong foundation for the role.
