About the Role
As an Internal Control Specialist, you’ll partner with the Internal Control Head to establish and maintain robust internal controls for Formula.Monks. This role involves evaluating and enhancing compliance frameworks, identifying risk and control deficiencies, and contributing to the development of a proactive risk management culture. You’ll work collaboratively with finance and cross-functional teams, supporting the implementation of control improvements and ensuring alignment with S4 Group policies and global regulations (e.g., COSO, SOX).
Responsibilities
- Evaluate existing internal controls and identify areas for improvement.
- Document control deficiencies and provide recommendations for corrective actions.
- Implement and track corrective actions to address control weaknesses.
- Monitor and report control performance, ensuring alignment with compliance standards.
- Support internal and external audit processes by providing required documentation.
- Collaborate with Finance, HR, and other teams to ensure adherence to frameworks and policies.
- Maintain thorough documentation of controls, risk assessments, and compliance activities.
- Identify opportunities to refine processes and drive operational efficiency.
- Assist in building the internal control structure within Formula.Monks.
Qualifications & Skills
- 3-5 years of experience in Internal Controls, Internal Audit, Compliance, or Risk Management.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or equivalent is a plus).
- Proficiency with internal control frameworks (e.g., COSO, SOX).
- Familiarity with ERP systems such as NetSuite, SAP, or Oracle (preferred).
- Strong analytical skills with a solid understanding of accounting principles.
- Proficiency in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides).
- English proficiency (B2 or higher) for effective cross-functional communication.
- Excellent attention to detail, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a hybrid environment (2 days onsite in Bogotá).
