The individual will support the deal life-cycle process with the timely preparation and delivery of contracts for all commodities traded by Gunvor USA, as well as verify broker confirmations and counterparty contracts.Main Responsibilities
- Manage the contract process from start to finish
- Prepare and send outgoing contacts
- Receive and review incoming contracts
- Ensure accuracy of deal and contract data
- Interact with counterparty contacts and internal stakeholders to resolve discrepancies
- Maintain records of internal and external contractual correspondence ·
- Perform ad-hoc, internal control, reporting, and other process duties
- Implement process and procedure improvements
- Assist with testing software application releases related to contract system functionality
- Complete project work assignments
Minimum Qualifications / Experience
- Either a bachelor’s degree in business administration, maritime management, or similar related degree; or a qualified paralegal in waterborne shipping, commodity trading, or similar experience
- At least five years of experience with drafting, reviewing, and revising commodity purchase and sale contracts
- At least five years of experience with commodity contracts relating to vessel, barge, and terminal/storage movements with an understanding of the contract provisions that are specific to each modality
- Well versed in physical crude and refined products contract language and provisions
- Thorough understanding of widely used industry standard general terms and conditions and industry standard terms in relation to vessel and barge movements
- Understanding of commodity bills of lading or other shipping documentation
- Knowledge of Incoterms and how these terms are integrated into various contract provisions
Beneficial Qualifications / Experience
- Experience as an operator for vessels or barges
- Experience with demurrage claims
- Experience with commodity contracts relating to vessel, truck, rail, or pipeline movements
- Experience with RINs, LCFS, or other emissions related contracts
