Rocket Lab’s Manufacturing team are the builders and the doers who work with our advanced machinery across our global manufacturing sites to get our satellites, satellite components, and rockets out the door. They bring the designs of our engineers to life by using advanced manufacturing techniques like 3D printing to create our hardware, and are responsible for delivering our projects and missions on time and on budget to our customers.

The role would require an experienced Lean Manufacturing Six Sigma Black Belt to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate would have a proven track record in implementing Lean Six Sigma methodologies within complex manufacturing environments, driving process improvements, and achieving operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage Lean Six Sigma projects from inception through completion, focusing on improving manufacturing process, reducing defects, and enhancing overall efficiency.
  • Utilize DMAIC methodology to identify root causes of problems and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Train, coach and mentor Green Belts, stakeholders and project team members, providing guidance on Lean Six Sigma tools and techniques.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, production, quality assurance, and other departments to streamline processes and project outcomes.
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence throughout the organization.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt with a minimum of 10 years of proven experience with successful projects preferable in the automotive or aerospace industries.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading and completing Lean Six Sigma projects with measurable results.
  • Wide experience on developing and improving Value Stream Maps.
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in statistical analysis tools and methods (such as ANOVA, Regression analysis, Design of experiments DOE, etc).
  • Proven experience in developing PFMEA and DFMEA (Process and Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis) for new product developments.
  • Experience on assessing process capability to meet specifications (Cp and Cpk).
  • High level of performance in APQP and PPAP methodologies (Advance Product Quality  Planning and Production Part Approval Process).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate at all organizational levels.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and experience in coaching and mentoring project teams utilising DMAIC Six Sigma methodology.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Experience with automotive or aerospace manufacturing processes, such as assembly, machining, carbon composites components production, or testing.
  • Knowledge of industry-specific quality standards and regulations.
