What you'll be doing

You’ll be a key part of an innovative, “first to market” technology culture, contributing to CIBC’s digital transformation journey. As a Senior DevOps Engineer you will be joining CIBC’s SPT, (Shared Platform Technologies), ECIS (Enterprise Customer Information System) to provide guidance and support to the project related and regression test related environment teams to help successfully deliver projects on time and within budget. You will help accelerate our transformation and optimize the way we develop and deliver code to ultimately bring high value to our clients. You will collaborate with partners in application development, quality assurance, operations, infrastructure, and business partners across various technology groups to deliver high quality products. 

How you'll succeed

  • Build & Deploy: Design, develop and maintain build and automated code deployment systems. Deploy Java applications on UNIX/Linux, RedHat JBoss EAP, Oracle Service Bus (OSB), Oracle Weblogic Application Server platforms, and RedHat OpenShift. Installation, configuration, management and administration of API microservices in Development and System Integration Environments running on Unix/Linux platform. Installation, configuration, management and administration of RedHat JBoss Enterprise Application Platform. Develop scripts of moderate complexity and scope, working with basic applications systems designs and specifications and utilizing standard procedures and techniques. Define, build and deploy Docker Container Images. Act as Middleware SME in adjusting and defining configuration of the Middleware platforms to suit needs of the applications. Provide on-call support to ensure rapid recovery of application failures and participate in the coordination of Production implementations. Participate in post-implementation reviews by providing recommendations on improving both application development and deployment process to maximize and share learning

  • Continuous Integration & Deployment (CI/CD): Maintain automated continuous integration and continuous delivery systems. Define and maintain version control strategy in application to Git and SVN version control systems. Closely work with Project Management and QA/PTE/Production teams on defining deployment strategy to UAT/PTE/PROD environments. Write documentation that describes build, deployment and configuration process of the applications. Work with Performance Test team on identifying performance related issues and opportunities for tuning enhancement

  • DevOps Champion: Drive, design, develop, implement, and maintain deployment automation from code check-in to production. As a change agent, promote an optimized and simplified lifecycle experience for our internal/external partners throughout the entire deployment pipeline. Collaborate with teams using Agile and DevOps principles with a strong focus on cultural and people change management. Continuously improve software engineering practices within your team utilizing your passion for automation technology. 

  • Experimentation and Innovation: Challenge the status quo, look for opportunities to improve and optimize the delivery process. Increase our production monitoring and infrastructure automation capabilities.

  • You can demonstrate experience in: DevOps and Automation with 6 years of experience. You have working experience setting up, managing and troubleshooting highly available applications. You have a strong understanding of Java Virtual Machine configuration and its tuning parameters. You have a strong understanding of DevOps concepts, principles as well as CI/CD toolset. You have experience working with Solaris/Linux and are able to understand and develop UNIX shell scripts as well as Python of moderate complexity. You have experience with application build tools such as Maven/Gradle, as well as experience with networks, LoadBalancers, Firewalls , and version control systems such as Git.
