Consultant, Air Quality Scientist/Engineer (Mid - Level)

ERM is seeking a motivated Consultant, Air Quality Scientist/Engineer to join our consulting team in Vancouver, BC, Calgary, AB, or Toronto, ON. ERM is open to candidates in other locations in Canada. The successful candidate will work with a team of atmospheric scientists/engineers and on a variety of interesting technical projects for clients in the oil & gas, energy, and mining sectors throughout Canada, with increasing responsibility for task/project management duties.

With annual global sales in excess of $50 million, ERM’s Air Quality & Climate Change service area is one of the largest among its peers in our industry and is steadily growing at a double-digit pace. In North America alone, ERM has more than 300 dedicated air quality and climate change professionals assisting clients with projects as diverse as developing responses to emerging GHG emissions reductions legislation, to leading complex capital projects through the many hurdles associated with Environment Assessments and permitting programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Conduct air quality dispersion modelling using CALPUFF and AERMOD.
• Conduct air quality analyses, assess regulatory compliance, and perform regulatory applicability evaluations.
• Conduct meteorology and air quality field work including installation of meteorological and air quality instrumentation.
• Develop complete and accurate air quality permits in Alberta and BC.
• Review compliance. Interact with local regulators to steward permit application review and issuance.
• Prepare emission inventory and NPRI reports; quantify air pollutant emissions and impacts.
• Implement climate change projects, such as greenhouse gas inventories, emission reductions, energy efficiency, public disclosure and verification.
• Write air quality management and monitoring plans.
• Prepare recommendations and reporting of results.
• Perform multiple tasks within scope/budget/schedule expectations and ensure quality standards on project deliverables.
• Interact and maintain successful relationships with clients, ERM employees, and subcontractors.

REQUIREMENTS:

• BSc in environmental engineering, atmospheric science or related degree; MS and/or PE preferred. Or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of direct consulting or industry experience.
• Experience conducting air dispersion modeling programs in CALPUFF and AERMOD.
• Experience working on Environmental Assessments.
• Demonstrated understanding of air emissions and emission reporting processes.
• Strong hands-on spreadsheet and database comprehension.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed.

For the Consultant, Air Quality Scientist/Engineer position, we anticipate the annual base pay of $75,488 – $93,854 (CAD).  An employee’s pay position within this range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs.  We also may have instances where employee’s fall outside of the range based on the factors noted above. This job may be eligible for bonus pay (casual and fixed term/flex force employees are NOT bonus eligible).
