The Development Connectivity team is responsible for the standards, design and implementation of all OSP/ISP telecom infrastructure and fiber connectivity to our data centers across the globe. Working with XFN teams to provide world class support and engagement within the organization and with our outside partners.

The Connectivity Project Manager II is responsible for driving program and project level deliverables in a predictable fashion in support of business objectives and ongoing operations. The PM is a hands-on connectivity development project management position with high visibility and large levels of responsibility. The PM is responsible for providing cross discipline coordination of fiber construction projects ranging from infrastructure design and implementations to process implementation. Accountable for on time, on budget, high quality project delivery, the PM plans and manages the project, including Analysis, Design, Development Quality Assurance and Deployment. As a Project Manager, this role is expected to manage multiple high complexity, high risk, and or business critical projects; mentor more junior project team members/analysts; and actively champion and contribute to continuous improvement of PM best practices.

RESPONSIBILITIES, other duties may be assigned.

  • Plan and manage multiple projects in support of QTS and will engage resources from a variety of locations and disciplines, both internal and external to the organization.
  • Work closely with the project team and business stakeholders to define strategy, deliverables and timelines for project execution, leveraging project management and program management best practices. Tailor standard project methodologies to define pragmatic approaches for specific initiatives.
  • Facilitate and support process improvement and business process reengineering efforts in critical areas directly impacting product development, client experience, sales, and revenue recognition.
  • Apply modern project management techniques to manage a project, achieving objectives of scope, quality, time and cost; organize and lead project status and working meetings; prepare progress reports; present to executive leadership on a regular basis; proactively identify and mitigate project risks and issues; manage project changes; develop relationships with key business stakeholders.
  • Work closely with business groups to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of solutions.
  • Hold project teams accountable for their project responsibilities and deliverables; proactively ensure that teams are "in sync" in terms of communication, schedules, issues, etc.; develop project teams by promoting empowerment, engagement and high-quality deliverables.
  • Maintain a high level of knowledge about our services, systems, methods of delivery, implementation and support processes, and Service Level Agreements.
  • Work with business groups to balance conflicting demands for resources.
  • Champion continuous improvement and adoption of project management and product life cycle best practices using innovative ideas to increase effectiveness.
  • Develop processes and documentation and continually improve the organization's project methodology.
  • Seek to understand change impacts resulting from the project and leads the team in defining and executing change management plans. Proactively encourages cross-functional business involvement in projects, building trusting relationships with business counterparts to ensure alignment and buy-in to business and system solutions.
  • Apply best practices for operational excellence across all programs and initiatives.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's, Computer Science, Business Administration or equivalent professional experience
  • Five or more years of progressively responsible experience managing a combination of complex construction projects (preferably telecom related), telecom engineering, telecom installation, and business or organizational change management projects.
  • Proven experience managing complex projects and programs using project management best practices
  • US Citizenship for this position is required by law due to federal customer contracts

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Three or more years of professional experience in management consulting
  • Experience working in a Data Center or similar environment
  • MBA or related Master's degree
  • Experience in Organizational Change Management
  • MS Project, Smartsheet, Primavera 6 or other project management software experience
  • PMP and ITIL certifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Strong understanding of Project Management methodologies and the Product/systems life cycle. Able to blend and "right-size" these practices to fit the project and business need.
  • Driven, proactive and a do-er.
  • A strong communicator with the ability to pull out and summarize information and tailor communication style and content for a variety of audiences. Comfortable and confident presenting to executives.
  • Have an understanding of the "bigger picture". Be able to conceptualize where and how the project fits into the ' mission. Must be able to establish project goals, validate and confirm acceptance, challenge stakeholders, and hold stakeholders accountable.
  • Ability to take a consultative approach to understand requirements, drill into details, and resolve issues.
  • Ability to facilitate resolution of issues. Capable of interpreting technical information and communicating this information to different audiences in a way they can understand.
  • Experience leading a variety of different types of projects including COTS implementations, system integration, infrastructure, business process.
  • Skilled in building trusted relationships with team members and project stakeholders.
  • Ability to effectively address and resolve conflict within and across teams
