WHO WE ARE

VerticalScope (TSE: FORA) operates one of the 10 largest community platforms in the US. Our platform includes over 1,200 websites and 125 million monthly visitors. Our mission is to enable the world to share expertise and discover knowledge on subjects they love. We operate at the intersection of community, content, and commerce, and believe in the power of enthusiasts to inform and inspire.

THE ROLE

RedFlagDeals.com (RFD) is Canada’s most trusted platform for deal-savvy shoppers, connecting millions of users who share a common passion: saving money. From groceries to electronics, from home improvement to personal finance, RFD empowers Canadians to uncover incredible deals and stretch their dollars further.

We’re looking for a Community Manager to lead the charge in fostering a vibrant, engaged community of shoppers who not only find the best deals but also share their knowledge and savings tips with others. If you love hunting for bargains, understand the thrill of scoring a great deal, and have a knack for building thriving communities, this is your dream job.

The position is remote from Canada. You can work anywhere in Canada except Quebec. Annual travel to Downtown Toronto is required for a team offsite.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Crafting a Community-Centered Strategy

• Develop and execute creative strategies to make RFD the ultimate destination for deal hunters, such as introducing innovative ways for members to discover savings, compare prices, or share shopping hacks.

• Foster a sense of belonging where members feel motivated to contribute deals, vote on favorites, and engage in discussions that help others save money.

Engagement and Relationship Building

• Welcome new members and re-engage long-time users, ensuring everyone feels valued and motivated to participate.

• Spark conversations around trending deals, shopping seasons, and exclusive savings opportunities to keep the community buzzing with activity.

• Celebrate the community’s successes, from highlighting top contributors to showcasing game-changing shopping tips shared by members.

Spotlighting Savings Trends

• Keep your finger on the pulse of Canadian shopping trends, identifying new ways members can save, whether through price-matching strategies, hidden discounts, or insider hacks.

• Partner with internal teams to transform insights from the community into actionable ideas that benefit shoppers across Canada.

Creating Events That Matter

• Organize and manage events that resonate with deal lovers—online and offline meetups, savings challenges, or seasonal deal marathons—to deepen connections and drive engagement.

• Build excitement around major shopping events, such as Black Friday, Boxing Day, or back-to-school season, by fostering collaboration and sharing in the community.

Innovating Through Experimentation

• Experiment with new tools, programs, or campaigns to energize the community. From gamified challenges that reward contributions to exclusive forums for VIP deal-sharers, bring fresh ideas to life.

• Use feedback and metrics to continuously refine and improve community initiatives.

ABOUT YOU

• 5 years of experience in community management, customer support, social media management or a similar role, ideally with a focus on shopping, deals, or e-commerce.

• Proven track record of growing and engaging online communities.

• Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to connect with diverse audiences and inspire participation.

• Ability to work in a cross-functional environment and partner with functions such as product, engineering, design, and marketing.

• Analytical mindset with proficiency in data tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Excel) to track community health and refine strategies.

• Deep knowledge of Canadian shopping habits, loyalty programs, and the thrill of uncovering a great deal.

• Deep understanding of forums, having been a forum moderator, administrator, power user or otherwise is an asset.

• Ability to work on key dates such as Black Friday (late November), Prime Days (mid July), and Boxing Day from 9 AM- 5 PM ET on the busiest shopping dates of the year. You will float Boxing Day and observe the holiday to another date of your choice.
