Granicus Australia/New Zealand (ANZ) is seeking a passionate and strategic Community Engagement Consultant to work with government agencies, and organisations in health and utility sectors, to improve their community engagement practices. The ideal candidate will be responsible for advising and supporting government agencies in developing and implementing effective community engagement strategies that align with policy objectives and public interests. This role requires strong expertise in fostering relationships, building trust, and enhancing participatory processes within government-led initiatives.

You will work closely with EngagementHQ clients to deliver services that enhance our clients’ engagement activities. You will mentor and provide strategic coaching to EngagementHQ clients to assist with engagement methodology and best-practice utilisation of EngagementHQ.

This role sits in the Client Education and Training team and works closely with multiple teams such as Customer Success, Product, Marketing and Sales to deliver and refine our suite of engagement services.

What your impact will look like here:

  • Advise government organisations on best practices for community engagement and public participation.
  • Assist clients with revenue generating packages to strategically plan their allocated hours, ensuring maximum value from their package and fostering motivation for renewal in subsequent years.
  • Deliver a range of presentations in the service catalogue such as Capacity Building sessions for government agency staff [LR1] and Strategic Mentoring sessions for Community Engagement teams.
  • Liaise with Product Trainers and Data Analysts to coordinate and assign tasks related to service catalog delivery, ensuring effective communication of task requirements and alignment with engagement objectives.
  • Maintain and enhance the current services catalog, evolving and developing new services to address client needs and align with emerging community engagement trends.
  • Conduct regular outreach efforts to ensure continuous engagement and to drive increased participation in services by keeping clients informed and motivated to use their package hours.
  • Organise and lead client networking sessions to foster valuable connections, encourage knowledge sharing, and strengthen relationships that drive future collaboration and business growth.
  • Work with the Marketing team to attend engagement events, such as the IAP2 conference, and represent Granicus products and services at industry events.
  • Work with Granicus's marketing team to facilitate and host webinars with community engagement industry thought leaders on topical community engagement issues.
  • Provide training and capacity-building training internally to upskill Granicus staff in contemporary community engagement methodologies.
  • Stay up to date on federal and local community engagement legislation, trends, challenges, and opportunities.

You will love this job if you have:

  • IAP2 Certificate of Engagement mandatory
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Social Work, Community Development, Public Administration, or a related field.[YP1] [LR2] 
  • 10+ years of community engagement experience in local and/or state government.
  • Demonstrated experience working on major infrastructure projects.
  • Demonstrated experience working on high outrage/contentious projects.
  • Experience facilitating community panels and deliberative panels.
  • Proven experience advising government organizations on community engagement strategies.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences and facilitate complex discussions.
  • Experience in policy development, strategic planning, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Proficiency in using tools for outreach.[LR3] [YP4] 
  • Proficiency in using online engagement platforms (preferably EngagementHQ) for community engagement projects. You will need to demonstrate your best practice utilisation of online engagement platforms and how this helped achieve your engagement outcomes on past projects.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong organisational and multitasking skills with the ability to manage and follow up on multiple client accounts while consistently delivering outstanding customer service.
  • Strong presentation and public speaking skills with the ability to effectively engage diverse audiences
  • Demonstrated experience creating consultation reports, analyzing, and presenting consultation data to stakeholders.
  • Experience creating interactive dashboards in business intelligence tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Zoho Analytics is a plus.
  •  Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Teams, Word and Excel etc[LR1] .) and project management tools such as Wrike.
  • Knowledge of federal, state and local government community engagement legislation and trends.
