Job Summary
Communications Specialist II is responsible for the development, implementation, and delivery of effective communications and marketing plans for internal and external key stakeholders through various communications channels.. This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and leading effective communications and marketing strategies, plans, programs, and materials. This position coordinates and leads activities to assist in telling Alliant Energy's story and promoting a positive image that informs all stakeholders and supports the overall company brand.


What you will do
  • Develops effective communications and marketing strategies and tactical communication plans for routine and moderately complex programs.
  • Executes tactical strategies and plans with consultation from communications and marketing leadership.
  • Develops communications and marketing planning activities to align with communications and marketing strategy.
  • Successfully develops and coordinates internal and external communications initiatives and projects.
  • Operates with moderate supervision on the regular execution of broad-based communications and marketing initiatives.
  • With guidance and general oversight, generates communications plans and for key stakeholders. Ensures communication and marketing activities meet customers’ timing and objectives and considers potential impacts on other planned communications or marketing activities.
  • Participates in key stakeholder events to enhance company reputation and brand.
  • May have general responsibility for one or more groups of customers, such as business units or multiple departments.
  • May participate on cross-functional teams and/or project activities.
  • May act as external spokesperson for moderately complex external inquiries.
  • Engages in other duties as needed that support Alliant Energy’s Values and helps deliver on our Purpose to serve customers and build stronger communities.
Education Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree Emphasis in journalism, English, communications, marketing, or related area Required


Required Experience

  • 5 years technical and/or professional experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to use computer software programs (e.g., e-mail, word processing, spreadsheet, and project management) preferred.
  • Works in a diverse and inclusive environment.

Pay Range:

66,000-82,000

This position is eligible to participate in the annual incentive program. The final salary offered will generally fall within this range and is dependent on various factors including but not limited to the responsibilities of the position, experience, skill set, internal pay equity and other relevant qualifications of the applicant.
