About your team:

At British Gas, our mission is to sell it and mend it.

We’re the household heroes powering 1 in 3 homes in the UK – but supplying energy is just part of what we do. We’re making the UK’s homes greener and more energy efficient, together with our friends at Hive. By using their clever tech like thermostats, heat pumps, solar panels and EV chargers, we’re making it cheaper and easier to reduce your home’s carbon-footprint. And with our Peak Save programme, we’re actively rewarding better energy use too.

About your role:

To get where we’re going, we need a Commercial Planning & Forecasting Analyst who can support the Commercial Planning Team to provide analysis and forecasting models for the Services and Solutions plan for acquisition, retention and growth.

What will do you?

  • Work with Effectiveness, Product Lines, Finance and other cross functional teams to develop customer, channel and product targets supported by econometric modelling.

  • Work with the Channels and other stakeholders to ensure data submissions are comprehensive, in the right format and timely.

  • Prepare data for use in the Planning model, ensuring accuracy.

  • Build a robust, iterative Commercial planning and forecasting model leveraging modelling, analysis, trend performance and drivers.

  • Update KPI’s weekly for the latest monthly and quarterly review materials.

  • Analyse trends and KPIs, highlighting areas of focus to improve decision making and to drive performance against the plan.

  • Preparation of data and charts for Business Performance Meetings (performance forecast, analysis and tracking and forecasts).

  • Perform data analysis to support the development of actionable insights into commercial performance.

Here's what we’re looking for:

  • Analytical experience in a commercial setting with a passion for producing insight to support decision making.

  • Experience in developing predictive modelling based upon statistical data (e.g. Machine Learning) is desirable.

  • Strong commercial and analytical mindset, as well as a drive to meet financial goals.

  • Excellent Excel skills, with SQL/Python coding experience an advantage.

  • Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in work.

  • Capability to absorb and interpret large amounts of potentially conflicting data sets to identify true performance levels, key performance insights and inform decision making processes.

  • High quality communication and presentation skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships of influence.
