Job Description SummaryAs a Coatings Staff Engineer/Senior Scientist, you will work in the Coatings Lean Lab leading projects focused on the development, optimization, and industrialization of coatings manufacturing processes for current and future engine programs. This is a hands-on role that will require you to collaborate with Engineering and Supply Chain teams to impact short-term and long-term business goals.
Job DescriptionRoles and Responsibilities:
- Lead development, industrialization, and production support projects for thermal spray coatings (HVOF, HVAF, Plasma)
- Leverage expertise to projects focused on improving quality, performance, and cost for current production coatings
- Develop strategy for applying coatings technology to existing and future business needs
- Provide leadership, technical guidance, and mentoring to less experienced engineers and personnel working assigned projects
- Participate, present, and provide feedback using your experience and expertise in technical and program reviews
- Deliver low-rate production process and technology transfer to full rate production sources for next generation coatings
- Drive rigor for a safety, quality, and Lean mindset within lab environment
- Remain current in the state of the art within own technical specialty for new products introduction activity, performance and capability improvements, cost reductions and problem resolutions
- Lead and participate on teams assigned to address organizational and lab initiatives
- Develop and implement practices for documentation of projects, lessons learned, and training modules
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree accredited college or university
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in an engineering position
Desired Characteristics:
- 10 years of experience in an Engineering position
- Bachelor of Science or graduate degree in Material Science & Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or Chemical Engineering from an accredited university or college
- Knowledge and experience with aerospace coatings, chemical processes, and/or special process quality systems
- Experience related to manufacturing equipment and/or tooling design and build
