Business Unit Overview
This position is part of Novanta’s Corporate and Shared Services global team. Novanta’s Corporate and Shared Services teams play an important role in executing the company’s strategic mission and operations. Included in Corporate and Shared Services are the business functions including Finance, Accounting, Human Resources, Information Technology, Legal, Compliance, Corporate Development and Corporate Marketing. The Corporate and Shared Services teams work closely with all Novanta business units to support operating initiatives contributing to the organization’s financial success.
Job Summary
As an Infrastructure Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and managing the core cloud infrastructure within the Novanta public cloud. Your expertise will contribute to the successful deployment and maintenance of cloud-based solutions. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams, ensuring that the foundational elements supporting cloud applications and services are robust, secure, and scalable.
Primary Responsibilities
Design and Deployment
- Plan, analyze, and design enterprise-scale cloud infrastructure solutions.
- Deploy and configure compute & storage resources, including Virtual Machines, web services.
- Implement best practices for high availability, scalability, and security.
Infrastructure Management
- Maintain and optimize existing server and storage environments.
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure efficient resource utilization.
- Collaborate with manufacturing and engineering teams to manage on-premises and hybrid cloud systems.
- Familiarization with auto-scaling techniques for enterprise application support.
Automation and DevOps
- Use tools like Terraform and Ansible for infrastructure provisioning and configuration management.
- Streamline development and deployment processes for public cloud workloads.
- Knowledge and experience with Atlassian JIRA for agile deployment methodologies.
Security and Compliance
- Implement security controls and adhere to compliance standards.
- Participate in disaster recovery planning and execution.
- Monitor and address security vulnerabilities.
- Support global audit support
Documentation and Collaboration
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of infrastructure configurations, processes, and procedures.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, architects, and network engineers.
Required Experience, Education, Skills and Competencies
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field a plus or equivalent experience.
- Proficiency in Azure services such as Active Directory and IAM.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform, Azure DevOps, and GitHub).
- Demonstrated knowledge of networking concepts, security, and compliance.
Travel Requirements
- Up to 10%

- Mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer.
- Ability to use vison to read computer screen and read printed materials
