What you'll do

  • Lead and evolve the global FinOps strategy, serving as the primary thought leader for cloud financial management and optimization across the organization
  • Establish governance processes and best practices for cloud resource deployment
  • Partner with engineering teams to implement cost allocation methodologies, tagging strategies, and drive adoption of cloud financial management best practices
  • Design and execute cloud cost optimization initiatives, including reserved instance strategies and resource right-sizing
  • Create executive-level dashboards and lead quarterly business reviews with senior leadership on cloud spend and optimization initiatives
  • Develop and maintain automated solutions for cost management, including ETL pipelines, APIs, and machine learning models for spend prediction
  • Architect and implement multi-cloud cost allocation systems and monitoring solutions
  • Drive strategic partnerships with finance and engineering teams and serve as the key stakeholder in vendor negotiations
  • Help in managing relationships with external Cloud Service Providers
  • Spearhead organizational change management to build a cost-conscious engineering culture

Examples of desirable skills, knowledge and experience

  • 8+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure, with at least 5 years focused on FinOps or cloud cost optimization
  • Proven track record of leading FinOps initiatives in large enterprise environments
  • Expert-level experience with at least two major public cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure)
  • Demonstrated experience building and scaling FinOps practices in complex, multi-cloud environments
  • Deep understanding of cloud pricing models, discount options, and optimization strategies across different cloud providers
  • Advanced experience with enterprise cloud cost management and optimization tools
  • Strong analytical and data science skills with expertise in advanced data analysis and visualization tools
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Finance, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • FinOps Foundation Certification preferred
  • Senior-level experience in stakeholder management and driving organizational change
  • Proven track record of leading large-scale, cross-functional initiatives
  • Proficiency in automation and scripting languages (eg Python)
  • Expert understanding of modern cloud architecture patterns and their cost implications
  • Experience managing and mentoring teams in cloud cost optimization practices
  • History of successful collaboration with C-level executives on cloud strategy and cost management
