Cloud FinOps and IT Sourcing Specialist
Job Description
As a pioneer in open-source software, SUSE delivers reliable, enterprise-grade Linux solutions powering mission-critical workloads. Driven by innovation, community collaboration, and a commitment to exceptional customer value, we are expanding our cloud presence and seeking a proactive Cloud FinOps and IT Sourcing Specialist to optimize our cloud investments and IT procurement.
Reporting to the Head of IT Commercials, the Cloud FinOps and IT Sourcing Specialist will be instrumental in optimizing cloud financial operations (Cloud FinOps) and strategically managing IT sourcing. This role encompasses overseeing cloud expenditure, driving cost-saving initiatives, managing ISP relationships, and collaborating across teams to ensure alignment with key business objectives.
This position can be remote or hybrid depending on your preferences and location.
Focus Areas:

Develop and execute comprehensive strategies to optimize cloud spending and maximize cost efficiency across SUSE IT's cloud environments.

Monitor and analyze cloud usage patterns using relevant tools to identify cost-saving opportunities and resource optimization, and provide actionable recommendations.

Establish and maintain cloud financial governance frameworks, including budgeting, forecasting, cost allocation methodologies, and chargeback models.

Conduct regular cost reviews of cloud services, ISPs, and other services, proactively identifying savings and presenting findings to stakeholders.

Track ISP costs and manage ISP administration for new and existing contracts, including renewals and cancellations.

Improve and document processes for monitoring and optimizing monthly ISP costs to ensure continuous improvement and cost efficiency.

Collaborate with procurement and IT sourcing teams to negotiate favorable contracts with vendors, ensuring alignment with business needs and cost-effectiveness.

Manage the End-to-End Purchase Order (PO) process, ensuring accurate alignment with contracts and Statements of Work (SOWs).

Provide training and guidance to internal teams on cloud cost management best practices and IT sourcing procedures.

Develop and maintain strong relationships with key vendors and stakeholders.

Remain current with industry trends and best practices in Cloud FinOps and IT sourcing.
Required Skills and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

A couple years of proven experience in Cloud FinOps or IT Procurement, with a demonstrable track record of cost optimization.

Strong organizational skills with a focus on record-keeping and meticulous monitoring of purchase orders and contracts.

Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively to meet deadlines and ensure timely delivery of goods and services.

Exceptional teamwork and collaboration skills, with the ability to build strong working relationships with team members, internal departments, and external suppliers.

Strong customer service skills with the ability to effectively communicate with suppliers and resolve invoicing and other issues.

Solid computer proficiency, including experience with procurement software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.

Fluency in spoken and written English is essential for effective communication within our international business environments.

Experience with cloud cost management tools (e.g., Cloudability, CloudHealth, AWS Cost Explorer, Azure Cost Management).

Knowledge of cloud service pricing models (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
