This is a full time, remote Summer Internship that can be based anywhere in the United States or Canada.
Calix is looking for a Summer intern to join our Development team. In this role, you will be part of a unique and award-winning internship program within the company. The program provides the opportunity to learn new skills through training and on the job learning. The expected duration is 90 days.
In this role, you will assist with the development, maintenance, and optimization of data pipelines, support data infrastructure, and help ensure the accuracy and accessibility of data across the Products organization.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Collaborate with team members to gather and analyze requirements.
- Assist in the design and development of scalable and reliable data pipelines.
- Work with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, AWS/GCP.
- Clean, transform, and aggregate data from various sources into usable formats.
- Develop and maintain data processing pipelines for large datasets.
- Monitor and troubleshoot data pipeline performance and reliability.
- Document processes and prcedures for internal teams.
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program majoring in Computer Science or Computer Engineering. Preference will be given to students in their Junior or Senior years with prior work experience.
- Familiar with data engineering concepts and technologies such as Hadoop, Apache Spark, Presto, Dataflow, DataStream and databases such as MYSQL or PostgreSWL / Alloy DB
- Strong knowledge of databases (SQL/NoSQL) and querying techniques.
- Strong foundation in programming languages like scala, Java or Python.
- Understanding of databases (SQL and NoSQL) and data warehousing solutions like Google BigQuery.
- Familiar with cloud technologies such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies in the data domain.
- Must understand basic computer programming concepts, data structures, and object-oriented programming.
- Familiar with version control systems (e.g., Git) and CI/CD pipelines.
- Able to work independently and in a team environment.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate in a virtual environment.
- Able to work for the complete summer break (May - August or June - September)

Compensation will vary based on geographical location (see below) within the United States. Individual pay is determined by the candidate's location of residence and multiple factors, including job-related skills, experience, and education.

San Francisco Bay Area Only:
27.60 - 34.50 USD Hourly
All Other Locations:
24.00 - 30.00 USD Hourly
