GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB:
The Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU) Advanced Practice Professional (APP)Manager supervises organizes and directs the work of the APPs at DCH. The CICU APP Manager under general supervision organizes and directs the work of the CICU APPs; coordinates staff to assure that effective CICU APP services are provided, and quality standards are met. Staffing consists of CICU APPs scheduled and as needed. The function of the CICU APP Manager is to develop and maintain an environment that supports the CICU APPs within the Driscoll Health System. A multidisciplinary team approach to care is utilized. The function of the CICU APP Manager is to develop and maintain an environment that supports APPs, nursing, medical, and ancillary staff. The CICU APP Manager will also be required to provide clinical care and APP coverage.

Serve as a professional role model and/orto the APPs by responding positively to change while supporting colleagues through the change process. Serve as a change agent to facilitate communication and transition that supports the mission of the organization.
- •Assure coordination/participation of the APP so department and organization wide councils/committees.
- •Manage, supervise, , and coordinate delivery of patient care for assigned patient car Aareona 24-hourbasis. Ensure compliance with clinical patient care standards and established policies and procedures. •
- Assist administration with maintaining clinical competencies for assigned clinical areas and provides cares needed
- •Assess/coach and evaluate APP level of practice.
- •Assist administration with maintaining required unit records, reports, and statistics for administrative purpures.
- .•Ensures compliance with established hospital policies, procedures, objectives, quality control (POCT), PI, safety, environment, and infection control. Communicate requirements to APPs and hold APPs accountable to established requirements. Coordinate the development, i m p l e m e n t a t i o nan devaluation of policies and procedures designed to improve operational efficiency. Assist with coordination of QC/PI activities with APPs.
- •Assist administration in overseeing various personnel actions including, but not limited to, hiring, performance appraisals, disciplinary actions, terminations, a n d other related activity.
- •Collaborate with the administrative team to determine fiscal requirements of the unit and assist with the preparation of budgetary recommendations. Monitor the level of resources utilized in service delivery and determines the appropriateness of resource consumption in the service. Develop action plans in conjunction with the Director to ensure budget and resource efficiency, and satisfaction with patient care delivery.
- •Promotes and monitors regulatory agency standards and customer service expectations for the practice of all aspects of nursing
- .•Promotes family centered concept by functioning as a liaison with the family, guest relations, and appropriate personnel
- .•Functions as a liaison with all service physicians and ancillary services on a day-to-day basis.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:ADVANCED PRACTICE REGISTERED NURSE (APRN)
•Master’s or Post Master’s Degree, required.
•Graduation from a Nurse Practitioners Program with practice authority in the State of Texas, required.
•2-3years of pediatric critical/acute care experience in an APP scope providing direct patient care, including involvement in teaching and staff guidance, required.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSURE, REGISTRATION:ADVANCED PRACTICE REGISTERED NURSE(APRN)
•Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner-Acute Care (CPNP-AC), required.
•Active and unencumbered nurse practitioner and registered nurse license in the State of Texas, required.
•Advanced specialty courses and ongoing education requirements as required by DCH
.•BLS, PALS, ACLS certifications, required.
•DCH Credentialing obtained within time frame required and continuously maintained ongoing.
•Must obtain DCH credentialing as an active member of medical staff and appropriate medical privileges, required.
EDUCATION AND/OREXPERIENCE:PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT(PA)
•Master’s or Post Master’s Degree, Required
.•Completion of an Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA)approved program (prior to January 2001-Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health EducationPrograms), required.
•2-3years of pediatric critical/acute care experience in an APP scope providingdirect patient care, including involvement in teaching and staff guidance,required.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSURE,
REGISTRATION: PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT (PA)
•Current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA),
•Physician Assistant, Certified (PA-C), required.
•Active and unencumbered license in the State of Texas, required.
•Advanced specialty courses and ongoing education requirements as required by DCH.•BLS, PALS, ACLS certifications, required.
•DCH Credentialing obtained within time frame required and continuously maintained ongoing.
•Must obtain DCH credentialing as an active member of medical staff and appropriate medical privileges ,required.
