The Opportunity

As a dedicated Chief of Staff – Technology Operations to support the SVP of Digital and Design. The Chief of Staff for Enterprise Digital Technology at USAA plays a pivotal role in driving critical initiatives within a complex data environment. This role involves coordinating data governance, engineering services, and overall data strategy to ensure operational efficiency, while creating high-quality executive communication content that translates complex data insights into actionable strategies for partners. We seek a professional with a strong background in data and analytics, proven team management skills, and operational excellence. Supporting the Senior Vice President of Digital and Design, you will manage project portfolios, monitor progress, coordinate budgets, and contribute to planning efforts, offering a comprehensive view of the dynamic technology operations landscape. Provides support and guidance to executive management to identify, develop and communicate specific business strategies across CoSA functional areas, utilizing expert knowledge of USAA, industry, business development, and financial planning. Leads strategic analyses of business needs and environmental trends in support of business strategy development and planning processes and, as appropriate, enterprise strategy and planning processes. Conducts business strategy reviews to assess progress and drive awareness of strategy achievement.

We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position is based out of San Antonio, TX. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

What you'll do:

  • Drives the development and coordination of components within the overarching strategy.

  • Works with executive management to establish strategic and operational framework that establishes enables short and long-term business goals and key results.

  • Develops specific processes to manage the business strategic and operational planning process.

  • Drives the alignment of business process and frameworks to enterprise strategy, process and framework.

  • Partners with senior-level leaders across functions and channels to develop near- and long-term visions and roadmaps and works with business leaders to manage transition from strategy to execution.

  • Maintains responsibility of integration of change management plans, project documentation and strategies for large, complex business specific initiatives that often impact the organization and/or enterprise.

  • Identifies strengths and weaknesses to evaluate operational effectiveness by establishing best practices and management routines to address gaps.

  • Guides team members as they perform research and analysis.

  • Supports CoSA executive leadership by leading the design, coordination, and governance of the annual strategic planning and operational planning processes.

  • Leads and motivates cross-functional team members in strategy and operational plan development and implementation.

  • Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.

What you have:

  • Bachelor's degree; OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.

  • 8 years of directly related business planning consultation experience to include developing business strategy for short-term and/or long-term goals.

  • Experience influencing and managing communication to senior executives, internal colleagues through concise, official and regular updates on status, progress, strategies and roadmaps

  • Extensive experience in Project Management.

  • Strong eye for business in financial services or related industry, and a proven ability to balance critical thinking with practical implementation skills.

  • Experience working with clients/customers to realize business issues and develop a strategy for the business’s direction from the gathered insights.

  • Proven ability to build and create high-quality executive council content, including presentations, strategic reports, and briefing materials, that effectively communicate insights and recommendations to senior leadership and partners.

  • Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional teams, successfully motivating team members and driving collaboration across departments to achieve strategic goals.

  • Experience in financial planning and analysis, including budgeting, forecasting, and performance metrics, with a proven ability to integrate financial insights into strategic decision-making.

  • Experience managing significant change initiatives in dynamic environments

  • US military experience through military service or a military spouse/domestic partner.

Compensation range: The salary range for this position is: $114,080 - $218,030.

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location.

 

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
