Established in 1958, EDC designs, delivers and evaluates innovative programs to address some of the world’s most urgent challenges in education, health, and economic opportunity. Our services include research, training, educational materials, and strategy, with activities ranging from seed projects to large-scale national and international initiatives.

Job Description

Project Description

The Equipping Secondary Educators Program Partnership is a sub-activity of the $125 Million Belize Compact, funded by the Millenium Challenge Corporation which aims to address two binding constraints to economic growth and poverty reduction in Belize: (1) low-quality education and (2) high electricity costs. This $23 million Education sub-activity is launched by the Government of Belize, acting through the Millennium Challenge Account (MCA-Belize).

The objective of this Education project is to “equitably increase the number of post-primary graduates with the competencies relevant to labor market demand”, responding to the root cause of low quality of education that has led to a shortage of trained professionals in all industries. The project has three activities: the Transforming Teaching and Learning in Secondary Education, Access to and Progression through Secondary Education, and Training and Transitioning to Work.

Position Description

The COP shall provide overall leadership, strategic vision and direction, program management and oversight, and will serve as principal liaison to the Millennium Challenge Account Belize, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Technology, and all stakeholders.
