Job Description
A Hotel Chief Engineer plays a crucial role in the hospitality industry, overseeing the maintenance and repair of all facilities and equipment within a hotel. responsibilities include:
- Ensuring operational efficiency of systems like HVAC, plumbing, electrical wiring, and elevators
- Developing and implementing preventive maintenance programs to extend the life of hotel equipment and systems1.
- Managing and training the engineering team for daily maintenance and repair tasks
- Coordinating with other departments to meet all equipment and facility needs
- Handling emergency situations promptly and professionally
- Overseeing budgets and expenses related to maintenance.
- Keeping up-to-date with industry standards and safety regulations
- Recommending new equipment and technology to enhance hotel efficiency and guest satisfaction
- Ensuring compliance with environmental regulations
Qualifications
- University qualification or certification in Engineering or Facility management
- previous experience in Hotel maintenance is required
- In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations
- They must possess strong problem solving abilities, leadership skills and the capability to manage teams effectively
- At least five years experience in a similar role
- Able to legally work in South Africa
