Job Summary: this is an exciting role in a growing company. The ideal candidate for the position is someone who has both deep technical and leadership experience, with leadership in a startup being a bonus. This Chief Engineer role will lead the sensors, sensing, and perception work at Epirus. This role will report to the Chief Technology Officer and will work with a cross-functional team in order to manage the conception, designing, building, testing, marketing, selling, and sustaining Epirus systems product line.
Responsibilities:
- Lead, develop, and realize the strategic product roadmap for the Epirus perception systems and future system product lines.
- Generate Product Requirements for future systems, considering cost, anticipated customer needs, and manufacturability.
- Lead a robust risk and opportunity management process.
- Contribute to proposal coordination across departments to ensure successful customer negotiations, compliant proposal structure, incorporation of win themes, competitive intelligence, and pricing of the proposals to win.
- Responsible for providing technical product marketing direction and training related to products.
- Contribute and where appropriate manage market technical analyst relations and customer feedback council relations.
- Contribute to public speaking, public affairs, and government relations as directed by the CEO and CTO.
Basic Qualifications:
- Lead, develop, and realize the strategic product roadmap for the Epirus perception systems and future system product lines.
- Generate Product Requirements for future systems, considering cost, anticipated customer needs, and manufacturability.
- Lead a robust risk and opportunity management process.

Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, Physics or Mathematics.
- Ability to work in a US DoD secret clearance environment.
- 5 years in sensing systems and perception with deep practical experience
- 10+ years of combined experience and leadership within product engineering, product management, and systems engineering.
- Experience with machine learning / AI and its interaction with perception systems.
- Focused on achieving business objectives, creative problem solving, and employing a growth-mindset, while defining and supporting a responsible, strategic, compliant and ethical approach to business challenges.
- A strong passion to learn new things

As required by the Equal Pay Transparency Act, Epirus provides a reasonable range of minimum compensation for roles that may be hired. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific office location.
For the state of California only, the range of starting pay for this role is:
$238,900—$338,000 USD
