In this position you will join the Thales Netherlands IS/IT team. IS/IT is at the core of the Thales digital transformation and there is a close relationship between IS/IT and business.
With a team of 150 colleagues we provide IS/IT support to our 3000 NL colleagues in several Business Lines and functions.
Our Agile transformation journey has started a couple of years ago. As a learning organization we fully embrace agile principles and strive for excellence by continuous improvement. We do not fear to fail as long as we can learn from it.
Within our department, we are looking for a new Chapter Lead to join our team. As the Chapter Lead, you take care of the people, day-to-day run operations and the associated run budget, including funds for temporary staffing. You enjoy working with people, and invest time and effort in development of talent with our annual HR cycle of performance objectives, strategic workforce planning, talent reviews and appraisals. Together with the Product Manager Workplace you form a strong team, in which you are responsible for anticipating on the incoming demands from business and matching people and skills accordingly. Furthermore, you are part of the IS/IT Leadership Team, and participate and/or lead departmental improvement initiatives. You bring along a critical eye, and you are not afraid of challenging the status quo in both your teams as well as in the IS/IT department. Your scope will consist of approximately 25 people.
Your typical days starts with a cup of coffee and preparing your day. Your first meetings are the stand-up meetings together with your squads. Here you find out what’s on the team’s agendas for that week and you determine whether they may need your help or support on specific matters. After the stand-ups, you will have some one-to-one meetings with your people to understand how the people are doing, and their progress on objectives as well as any blocking issues. After a good lunch, with a lunch walk, you discuss changes to contracts and your workforce with the IT controller. In this way you keep your forecast up-to-date and can give a first estimate of the plans for next year. Your final meeting of the day is with the IS/IT Leadership Team to discuss HR related topics. You finish your day with some administration and a nice informal chat with colleagues before you head home.
You are responsible for:
- HR responsibility for 25 people
- Hiring and development of permanent and temporary staff together with HR and Procurement
- Budget responsibility for resources and RUN operations (licenses, IT assets)
- Developing a long-term vision for skills and resources within your chapter, based upon the strategic workforce planning
- Partnering with the Product Manager as well as Enterprise Architect to understand business demand and architectural direction to determine resource development and allocation
- Foster collaboration with the international Global Chapter and exchange with Group IS/IT
- Contribute to the IS/IT Leadership and lead department initiatives for continuous improvement
- As a leader within our IS/IT organization, you exemplify agile values, principles and ways of working. You foster the agile mindset within your team, and contribute our overall IS/IT agile journey.
About you:
- Bachelor or Master degree
- A servant leader; eager to share knowledge and coach team members to develop technical and human skills
- Have at least 5 years of experience in a similar position
- Motivational and inspirational
- Providing structure and guidance
- Strong communicator
- Experience with the agile mindset and adopting new ways of working
- Fluent in English
