Job Description
Who You’ll Work With
The Pre-sales Channel System Engineer collaborates closely with Channel Development Managers to assist potential partners, such as MSPs and VARs, in identifying the most suitable technology solutions for their customers' business needs, particularly in the areas of data, networking, and security. While the Channel Development Manager focuses on negotiating contract terms, the Pre-sales Engineer is responsible for making product recommendations and technical enablement for prospective partners on how Arista's technology delivers both business and technical value to their clients.
What You’ll Do
A Pre-sales Engineer supports the sales process. This engineer serves as a technology adviser to prospective Partners & Distributors. Successful Pre-sales Engineers display a strong commitment to developing and maintaining long-term partner relationships. The ability to understand partner requirements, determine the best solutions and effectively communicate the value proposition of those solutions are critical skills. Delivering high-quality demonstrations of the Arista portfolio of products and presenting case studies in support of the indirect sales opportunity is a key requirement.
Responsibilities
- Pre-sales Engineers are subject matter experts with specialized technology experience in network solutions and security. With the direction of the Channel Development Manager, these engineers will contribute to a prospective partner’s requests for a proposal to sell the Arista portfolio of products. The Pre-sales Engineer must be well-versed in not only the Company's portfolio of products but also how to position Arista vs the competition.
- Customer Relationship Skills : Pre-sales Engineers should be organized and display excellent time management skills. Because this is a customer-facing role, a Pre-sales Engineer must also be an effective communicator from both verbal and written standpoints, as well as through active listening. This engineer is expected to be introduced to partnerships at all working levels, from technicians to senior management staff members. Strong presentation skills are a must. Pre-sales Engineers must be able to adjust presentation materials as needed to provide the type and depth of information required for each recipient.
Qualifications
- BE/BTech/MTech technical degree preferred
- Network Industry Certification preferred (e.g. CCIE {R&S}, JNCIE)
- You possess a minimum of 5+ of L2/L3 networking design and implementation experience with a focus on Campus, Wi-Fi solutions, Security and Data Center Networking
- Demonstrated work experience as either a Sales Engineer, Solutions Architect, Pre-Sales SE, or Network Consulting Engineer preferred
- Expert knowledge in the following areas: Ethernet, RSTP/ MSTP, VLANs, IP Routing, TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP, eBGP, VxLAN, Multicast, Spanning Tree, QoS
- Good understanding of the competitor technology landscape - Cisco, Juniper, Fortinet
- Expert-level knowledge of industry-standard CLI
- Experience with SDN and Network Function Virtualization (NFV) is highly desired.
- Previous experience building network automation using Python and Ansible desired.
- Knowledge of competitive products, solutions, and services
- Ability to write white papers a plus
- Pre-sales Engineers are expected to refresh their training to stay current with evolving technologies.
