Our client is a non-profit organization based in the vibrant city of Los Angeles. The team is passionate, driven, and committed to a great cause, and are seeking a dynamic Chief Financial Officer to join them in the mission. As the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) you will play a crucial role in overseeing all financial aspects of the organization. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, you will be responsible for financial planning, budgeting, accounting, and reporting, ensuring the effective stewardship of our resources to support our mission and goals.
Responsibilites
- Develop and implement financial strategies, policies, and procedures to ensure the financial health and sustainability of the organization.
- Prepare and manage annual budgets, working closely with program managers and department heads to align financial resources with organizational priorities.
- Monitor and analyze financial performance against budget and forecast, providing timely and accurate financial reports to the Executive Director and Board of Directors.
- Oversee all accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger maintenance, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
- Manage cash flow and investments, optimizing the use of funds to support organizational objectives.
- Collaborate with fundraising and development teams to support grant proposals, donor stewardship, and fundraising events, providing financial expertise and guidance.
- Lead the annual audit process, liaising with external auditors and ensuring compliance with audit requirements.
- Provide strategic financial advice and support to the Executive Director and Board of Directors, assisting in decision-making and long-term planning initiatives.
- Stay abreast of relevant financial trends, regulations, and best practices in the non-profit sector, continuously seeking opportunities for improvement and innovation.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field; CPA or MBA preferred.
- Proven experience in a senior financial management role, preferably within the non-profit sector.
- Strong understanding of non-profit accounting principles, financial planning, and budgeting processes.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and make strategic recommendations.
