JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Washington, DC office of Alston & Bird is accepting applications for Case Assistants to support the Finance practice group. The Case Assistant program is an Internship designed for recent college graduates who are considering going to law school, or who want to learn more about the legal profession. It is designed to be a 24 month program. Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, Case Assistants perform a variety of duties to assist the Paralegals and Attorneys to whom they are assigned. Maintains positive contact with clients and observes confidentiality of client matters.
As a Case Assistant, you will be a critical part of Alston & Bird’s world class professional service staff. You will be part of a team that delivers a high level of customer service, known as Alston & Bird's TOP ECHELON service, supporting our internal and external clients.
SKILLS NEEDED TO BE SUCCESSFUL
- Assist attorneys to prepare transaction documents/materials
- Work with lawyers to prepare certificates and various documents in connection with asset purchase, finance and securitization transactions.
- Work directly with attorneys and clients during closing of transactions
- Manage and assist with the closing of various transactions, including preparation, coordination and organization of closing binders.
- Prepare/Conduct UCC Filings/Searches
- Assist lawyers in the preparation and filing of UCC filings and handle UCC filing search requests in all states.
- Establish relationships and effectively liaise with clients and vendors on a regular basis.
- Proofread, quality control over documents
- Organize and work with lawyers to execute deadlines
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to correctly interpret communications from a variety of sources and explain complex technical communications to contacts in various roles.
- Must have a high level of customer service with the ability to build strong positive team relationships.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of all matters.
- Excellent organizational skills for prioritizing workload.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree
The salary range for this position in Washington D.C. is a $25 to $26 hourly rate and represents the firm’s good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at the time of posting. The actual salary offered will be dependent on various factors, including but not limited to, the candidate's experience, education, relevant certifications, geographic location, market demands, and specific business needs. Generally, candidates are considered for the higher end of the salary range when they bring the requisite level of experience and expertise to the role.
