The Role:

Blue Owl is seeking a Senior Associate or Associate to join our Capital Markets team within Credit, helping to manage our direct lending capital markets activities. This person will support strategic firm clients’ investment activities as part of separately managed accounts / funds of one (“SMAs”), co-investments and syndications. The role is part of the Blue Owl direct lending investment team, and uniquely sits at the intersection of the investment and fundraising / client service sides of our business. It requires coordination and integration across multiple internal and external stakeholders across the globe. These include existing and prospective Blue Owl limited partners, third party lenders, financial sponsors and several internal teams. We are seeking a proactive and organized strong communicator with leveraged finance experience at an investment bank and / or in private credit or direct lending.

Responsibilities:

  • Work alongside other Capital Markets team members to facilitate the investment processes of key Blue Owl investors and co-lenders as part of Blue Owl managed funds, co-investments, syndications and strategic sell-downs  
  • Shepherd investors through their diligence process on Blue Owl direct lending transactions (both verbally and in writing) and prepare pipeline and other materials to support clients’ diligence on direct lending deals
  • Participate in frequent meetings with key Blue Owl clients; over time, opportunity to lead calls with investors
  • Liaise with Deal Teams, Portfolio Managers, Institutional Business Development, Accounting, Compliance, Legal, Capital Planning and others to coordinate the investment process for Blue Owl investors  
  • Maintain capital markets tracking spreadsheets and market update materials for the investment team
  • Assist with liquid loan investment activities
  • Help to identify and implement investment process improvements as our direct lending platform continues to grow
  • Help manage Blue Owl’s relationships with third-party lenders with a potential opportunity to source deal flow from other lenders

Qualifications:

  • 3 to 6 years of experience in a leveraged finance or financial sponsors role (private credit / direct lending and / or buy-side capital markets experience a plus)
  • Strong investment acumen, business judgment and maturity
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to balance multiple internal and external stakeholders, including a global client base  
  • Ability to concisely summarize direct lending investments and boil down concepts discussed in the Blue Owl Investment Committee process to key external stakeholders (i.e. respond to deal-related questions, and shepherd clients and co-investors through their diligence process)
  • Proactive, resourceful and solution-oriented with a commitment to teamwork and problem solving
  • Desire to propose new ideas and solutions to streamline process and drive success and efficiency in a growing, evolving business environment
  • Strong proficiency across Microsoft Office tools

It is expected that the base annual salary range for this New York City-based position will be $155,000 - $175,000. Actual salaries may vary based on factors, such as skill, experience, and qualification for the role. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus, based on factors such as individual and team performance.
