FLSmidth is looking for a Buyer!
This position will reside in the PT Distribution and Assembly facility and is responsible for providing Purchasing support for its manufacturing and facility needs. It is expected that this position would be one of a team of buyers who support the facility's purchasing activities within a cross-functional manufacturing product-focused team.
Specific responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Obtaining pricing for proposals
- Purchase order placement
- Obtaining order confirmation
- Supports local purchasing activities and guides relevant internal stakeholders to ensure purchasing strategies and contracts are implemented locally
- Manages specific agreements to secure that deliverables are met
- Purchases non-complex products and items, which requires good understanding of technical specifications to ensure the right requirements of the products and items
- Analyses and evaluates different suppliers on the basis of overall set strategies to ensure that the chosen suppliers are appropriate according to strategy
What you bring:
- Previous buying experience preferred with 2 to 4 years of experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, engineering, or business preferred. Equivalent experience acceptable.
- Knowledge of Cement producing or industrial equipment with machining and casting procurement is preferred.
- Individual should possess a sense of urgency, be proactive, customer-driven, and motivated.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, good time management skills.
- Pleasant demeanor, good with co-workers, calm in high pressure situations and be a team player.
- Candidate shall have good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Organization skills and ability to prioritize work based on appropriate requirements.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics, as well as Microsoft applications is a plus.
- Good with data, spreadsheets, and data analysis.
- Understands procurement process including vendor selection for machined and casted products and order placement.
- Commercial and technical knowledge to conduct offer evaluations is desired.
- Blueprint reading is desirable.
- Experience with international suppliers is a plus.
- Excellent coordination skills.
- Knowledge of MRP processes in support of manufacturing is desired.
- Ability to work on site at Northampton, PA.
