About the Role
The Buyer identifies opportunities to reduce total landed cost at our divisions in North America. The Buyer is responsible for executing category strategy and developing and executing localization and VA/VE strategy. The role manages the supply base, leads multi-discipline launch, and change projects or teams. The position requests quotes, evaluates/selects suppliers, negotiates contracts, coordinates the purchase of indirect and direct component parts, drives domestic and global sourcing, and monitors supplier performance. Additionally, the Buyer achieves cost reduction goals, supports supplier feasibility reviews and supplier kickoff meetings, and monitors market conditions, prices and supply trends, new products and technologies.
Your Responsibilities

  • Manage indirect and direct categories. Identify opportunities to reduce total cost of ownership, consolidate data and optimize total landed cost of one-time high-quality products at our divisions.
  • Identify spend across multiple divisions to leverage total buy.
  • Manage high risk supplier issues. Includes supporting resourcing plans, plant visits/audits, contingency planning including bank build oversight and other support as required.
  • The position requests quotes, evaluates/selects suppliers, negotiates contracts, coordinates the purchase of indirect and direct component parts, drives domestic and global sourcing, and audits supplier performance.
  • Purchasing lead on the fastener usage consolidation and pricing negotiations.
  • Support division purchasing teams as required.
  • Other related duties as assigned.


Who we are looking for

  • Education/Skills/Special Knowledge - Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in business or engineering
  • Experience - Five years of automotive experience in related position in manufacturing environment including supplier strategy and negotiating. Two years of experience in automotive purchasing, materials, or quality. Working knowledge of manufacturing cost models.
  • Physical Demands/Work Environment - Normal amount of sitting or standing, average mobility to move around an office environment, able to conduct normal amount of work at a computer, may require local, domestic and international travel.
