About This Role
The Buyer is a cross-functional individual contributor responsible for ensuring that GMP raw / direct materials are procured according to established policies, strategies and procedures, while maximizing Biogen’s returns on its external spend. The ultimate deliverable from this position is on-time and compliant procurement of all goods and services needed to execute production campaigns in manufacturing. In addition, all transactions need to ensure minimization of Excess and Obsolescence (E&O), as well as a cost-containment focus. This role reports into the Sr. Manager, Global Procurement, Direct Materials.

What You'll Do
• Ensure all procurement transactions have the proper due diligence review performed and documented prior to conversion into a purchase order.
• Responsible for interfacing with Inventory Planning group to execute a purchasing strategy that is intended to ensure 100% compliance with financial objectives and site manufacturing goals.
• Interact with suppliers on the communication of purchase orders, status, confirmation and delivery.
• Resolve any supplier issues and escalate as needed. Participate in meetings to review and resolve supplier delays/issues.
• Ensure supply agreement terms and conditions are adhered to and followed.
• Supplier interactions are focused on exchanging information related to lead times, discounts based on quantity ordered and any specific issues at vendor sites that may jeopardize on-time procurement.

Qualifications

Who You Are
You have experience with purchasing in a GMP regulated industry, preferably with purchasing raw materials (e.g., chemicals, filters, consumables, etc.). You enjoy collaborating with diverse subject-matter experts and can work independently and as part of a team.
• Knowledge of cGMP’s and governing policies with a minimum of 1-3 years of raw materials purchasing or related work experience in a GMP regulated industry or similar preferred
• Ability to prioritize competing activities and independently manage your time
• Proficiency in MS Excel
• Excellent oral and written communication skills 
• Workable knowledge interacting with an ERP system (SAP/Oracle)
• Ability to run reports and update metrics as needed
• Excellent analytical skills and the ability to present data in a logical and understandable manner to an internal and external audience

Education
• University degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience required. CPSM (Certified Professional in Supply Chain) a plus
